pulled over to help a family (g'ma/g'pa and 2 grand kids) change a front flat. they were kind of a mess and what they had done was pretty dangerous, i arrived to find they had:
- put their scissor jack in the wrong spot, too far back with too much weight over the front. showed them the notches indicating where it should sit.
- removed flat tire before lowering their spare, only to find they didn't have the right extensions to lower the spare.
- being that the shoulder was not very level, the car had tipped forward off the wrongly placed jack and the lower arm/rotor was resting in the dirt.
- no one was watching approaching traffic to make sure these crazy-ass West Texas drivers weren't about to plow them

fortunately the spare wasn't snug, it was just loose enough to lift and free from the hoist, and there was still enough room underneath to get the jack into the correct spot up front. had g'ma spot for traffic while we got it sorted out. their spare pressure was also really low so got that filled up and gave them my old Viair 70p that is useless on these larger ATs

nice people, hopefully they learned a few things

Kudos to you my friend. I stopped doing these acts 1 year ago after seeing wayyy to many limb amputations and deaths of the people who come to the aid of others in stalled vehicles and other roadside repairs/fixes (especially in the greater Houston area where people drive 85 on the freeway). Be safe out there.

FYI, I work at a level one trauma ER so I'm fairly biased and do see a shit ton of trauma. Not saying you're not a badass, you're still a bad ass lol

Swapped out my new Terra Grapplers in 285/70-17 for some Ridge Grapplers in the same size C load. The Ridge Grapplers are quieter than the Terras and acceleration seems unaffected. Weird thing the Ridge Grapplers look smaller. Not sure how that’s possible.

BFG in general runs on the small side of the spectrum. I ran their 285 and compared to a Nitto 285 they are a lot smaller visually. I ended up bumping up to a 295 Ridge Grappler when I made the swap.

KO2's are SMALLER even with the same size BF's are made smaller. I know I had a set and sold them, just made me crazy every time i looked at the truck.
if you want bfo's get a size bigger than what you originally wanted.

There is a chart somewhere that compares brands with actual sizes but I don't have it in my files anymore since I got a new pc. sorry :/

Just be careful in the rain. The RG is pretty terrible until you have 3000-5000 miles on them for whatever reason. They seem to get better as they wear in. I have a couple friends running them and they experienced the same thing I did.

Threw on the Rocky Road super sliders that showed up yesterday. Super easy, 30 minutes tops, including the un-boxing.

The plan was to also put on the SSO rack that I received earlier this week. Unfortunately they forgot to put the aluminum spacers in the shipment, so that was a no-go. I'll have to give them a call on Monday and hopefully that will be my project for next weekend.

Finally got my winch, LED’s and bumper installed. It’s an adventure doing it solo. I’ve been wiring the batteries all week, so at least it was a break from that.

I was actually about to just upgrade my plasma cutter and make my own. But, I found this one in the “scratch and dent” section. I save $700 because the corner was bent a little. So, I couldn’t pass that up, plus no wait time. It also softened the blow of the anal rape that they call, “shipping charges”.

All in all, I like the bumper. But, the side protection isn’t great at all. I will be adding some steel there, when I figure out what will look and work the best.
