What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Yeah, I made it the other 90 miles home. Plan on replacing them with K02’s. I was never able to get them balanced properly either, tried maybe 7 times. ����*

KO2 is a great tire, lasts forever but they do run small next to other tires in the same size, that goes for all BFG products. Look at the General Grabber AT2 also, another great tire and they are lighter. Sidewall isn't as thick but unless you're wheeling on rocks a lot, it's really not a concern. Either tire will give you 60K-70K miles if rotated and inflated properly. Your 41 PSI is a bit on the high side IMO

uhh... because nothing was in the back and I didn't feel like throwing the lumber up 6+ feet and strapping it down...

besides, Gobi's have a shitty powder coat and scratch if you blink at them. Kind of sick of sanding the rust and touching it up. If it ain't soft or smooth, it doesn't touch the rack.

Can you post more pics of the super sliders? I'm trying to figure out what the difference is between their regular sliders and super sliders.
Can you use it as step boards?

I like them because they don't stick out too much. Not much for a step.
Really well made though, about 50 lbs each. The super sliders have the extra round tube that angles up to give more rocker and side protection. Their regular sliders are just the square tubing for under the rocker panel.














On a side note. The install is a B. They took a lot of wiggle to get lined up. Use a second person to help. The hardware they send is grade 8.8 (metric), so it's only similar to grade 5 (US). They're not grade 8 (US), their equivalent is grade 10.9 (metric). I'll upgrade it but I'm sure they'd be strong enough anyway. Also there was no nut in my frame for the bottom hole on the middle mount leg. So I'll need to get an appropriate sized self tapping bolt to install.

The build of them is great quality. The install ease is weak. Hopefully I'll be able to get them some action soon!

Bilstein 6112/5160 with Dobinsons C59-725. Great ride, slightly firmer but soaks up bumps nicely.

Not today, but last week... I took another trip out to the Carrizo Gorge. This time my brother-in-law Matt was with me, which was great. We've wanted to do a trip together for years, but he lives in CO so it's never worked out until now. Anyway, we spent the night at the end of the trail, got up just before sunrise, and started hiking at 6:45 a.m.

I had more camera gear I wanted to bring this time, so I bought a luggage cart and hauled some of it on that:

This worked ok, but the tiny wheels were far from ideal and made for slow going. The round trip to the big trestle and back took eleven hours -- two hours longer than on my previous trip.


The weather was perfect, both for hiking and for flying/photography. It was warm but not overly hot, with winds variable from zero to five mph. During much of the day there was a thin, hazy overcast that not only kept the heat down, but also provided a fantastic diffused light for shooting photos and video.

Damn, that's awesome. I would ask you what dealership but the long wait time is allowing me to save up the dough to cover the cost (assuming it'll ship sometime in July).

Local hike

On Friday I got in a good hike in the local mountains before it started raining. Angeles Crest Forest starting at around 2600 feet asl. I shot my new signature photo where I parked at the trailhead.
