What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Did the diff-breather relocation mod. First one! Might end up re-routing the tubing, kind of wish it was more tucked in the back right of the engine bay. As of now, all good though.

Installed oem roof rack on the factory rails.

And oil change. Don’t trust dealers and oil is cheap so replaced it

DIY. I bought these cheap garden sprinklers from Amazon. http://a.co/iqm3umH

Started at the rear and every 5 minutes I pulled the water line forward a couple of feet. Once it as done and water dried from the floor, I was amazed how much sand and sediment was left behind.

I want one of those near my house! that's awesome...is that a drive thru or you did it yourself?

that's a great idea, thanks for the tip. so simple but yet would never think about it

I just upgraded to these DDM Tuning Saber LED, 9005 LED Bulbs, 50W, 10000 Lumens / pair!

Nice! Make sure to post up some pictures be let us know if you like them. I’ve tried HIDs and even aimed correctly they had considerable scatter so I removed them.

They throw more light down the road than my previous Saber LEDs...
You do realize these are in the High Beam Reflectors, don't you?
HID's in the High Beam Reflectors don't work well for multiple reasons...

Raised the spring perch one setting higher on my 6112s looks much better now. Trying to drive as much as I can so I can wear these KO2s down and upgrade to 285/75R17s :guitar2:

Changed the gear oil today

You guys with the huge picture files are killing the thread. Try downsizing them before you attach them. Thanks.

This afternoon I changed all the gear oil in my Trail Edition. Front diff was pretty dark. Transfer case was fairly clean. Rear diff was dirty, as expected. I drove it about a mile in 4 wheel lo before draining the gear oil. I think that helps stir up the front diff and transfer case. It may explain why mine was so dark when lots of people say they get clean oil out of the front diff case.

I didn't get a drop of oil on the garage floor. It's a good thing I had a bunch of scrap cardboard to put down.

I haven't changed my oil in over 20 years. I didn't anticipate how fast the front diff would drain. It shot out past the oil pan I had on the floor. Good thing the cardboard was there.

I also spilled a lot of new oil trying to find the right way to fill the cases from below. I had a graduated funnel with an in-line check valve I tried to use up front. I had a long piece of clear tubing so I had the funnel up over the wheel well and the low end into the diff fill opening. But darn, the hose came off of the funnel just as I got the valve opened. There went half a quart of oil ($). I did better with the transfer case but it was a PIA.

On the rear diff I finally used the pump I had that supposedly works in a one gallon jug. But it not only was too small for the spout of the Mobil 1, 4 quart jugs, it couldn't pump from the half empty jug. So I used an intermediary cup and the pump, which was still a lot of work. Those pumps pump about a tablespoon with every pump. I guess that's good when you get near the top. That's fine for the front diff and transfer case that hold 1.6 and 1 liter. But it was a lot of gear oil to pump for the rear diff. Next time I'm going to drop the spare and use a funnel and hose. :wink2:

I have a lot to learn about changing gear oil. But I don't plan on taking it to the dealer ever again. So I better find a better way to fill the cases. :ballchain:

Drove back from the airport (actually a week ago) from Cuba. We took my mother-in-law who was born there and hasn’t been back for 58 years (her father was American military so had to get out during the revolution). Very interesting experience, and some awesome cars. When talking to our tour guide, he mentioned the Prado below would cost $250k to import there. It was a diplomat from Belize driving it. To be honest it was way better looking in person, not a “soft” as what I’ve seen in pictures online and the interior matches the GX460. There were FJ-60’s all over the place though...mostly used taxis and tour vehicles, and of course all of the classic cars it is known for. We drove around in the 1929 Ford Model A and 1952 Yellow Chevy for a night out in Havana, which was really cool (my son loved the model A). FYI the rum there was the best I’ve ever had, and a good bottle of Havana Club (puts Bacardi to shame) was only $3.50...so Cuba Libre’s were the drink of choice.

Why wait? I kept my KO2 for about 3500 - 4000 miles something like that and sold them to upgrade. There's a huge call for them, sell them and upgrade.

Brown Santa showed up yesterday with a tax return surprise to keep things cool in a South Florida this summer...thank you REI member coupon.

Resize photos

What I don't understand is why the forum doesn't automatically downsize the files. All the other forums I am on, do this automatically.

Some forums give you an auto message when your photos are too large. You can't upload them until you resize them.
Basic MS Word program makes it easy to resize photos. Then use "Save As" if you want to save the original huge file on your hard drive.
This isn't rocket science folks.

I post the exact same picture in Tacoma Wolrd as here and TW will size them down automatically. Just post the link and it is size to fit. Glocktalk does the same I believe, as does 4Runners.com

Exact same pictures from the exact same link. These are screenshots from my phone but acts the same on my MacBook
