What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

That looks way over torqued.

I looked into going with the metal housing from the camry (I think). What stopped me was finding out that you have to change out the inner tube because it is shorter. I bought a case of OEM filters, so I want to keep it the same size.

Is the one for the Tacoma the same size as the 4Runner?

Also, I may end up ordering this since it looks as though you can select the right tube for the middle.

My current issue with the plastic one is that the drain plug is seized. When changing the oil, trying to remove that plug results in unscrewing the entire housing and dumping all the oil at once instead of draining through that plastic valve that comes with the new media. It's annoying and I'm now on my 3rd oil change using the same o-ring.

I've tried locking it in a vice and hitting it with the impact. That just spun the housing in the vice. I tried applying heat and doing the same, but that had the same result. I haven't gone to extremes because I don't want to damage the plastic....

From my understanding, you can use the inner tube from your OEM plastic housing. Just switch it out and youre good. However, I did not do that and trashman picked up yesterday. I'll check the next oil change to see if there is a huge difference.

The one I linked is the one I used fit our application. I checked and others on this forum have used it too (same part number). Its for a camry, but it will fit tacoma and 4runner from my limited research.

I purchased this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008BHP68A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_7DQLBb9TYQB7G

All I had to do was remove the plastic housing (which was cracked) and swap out the inner piece over to the metal housing. You just bend two little metal prongs to be able to spin the inner piece and remove, with spring. Then swap over and bend back. Super easy and oil changes have been 10x easier since.

This shows the little metal tab you bend down with flat head, then spin to remove. Then after swapping over and spinning into position, bend back up.

Hopefully the pics i attached show everything. Some guy in a facebook group wanted some info and this was easier than uploading three times the pics along with descriptions haha.

TLDR - I need to do a fender liner adjustment and maybe trim it but i currently do not rub at all whatsoever but might hit the front fender liner when wheeling and flexed out.

Sick and definitely good to know. I was referring more to Diff/Front Skid ground clearance. It looks so damn good. Need more money asap!

Kings went on late last night, so today was my first opportunity to really try them out. I went with the OEM 2.5" kit, with custom length rears, SPC UCAs, and Toytec Superflex rear springs. I spent a few hours bombing around some forest roads and a couple of mild off-road trails, and all I can say is they live up to the hype. I was "happy" enough with the TRDP suspension, but I was beginning to feel like I was pushing its limits and I was a bit sick of the jarring ride the Toytec spacer lift creates at speed on rough roads. I was patient enough to wait til I hit 50k miles before ditching them, and the kings were well worth the wait and the cost in my opinion. The on road improvement is just as noticeable as off road as well ,for what that's worth.

Installed a 2" leveling kit and some 285/70/17 E KO2's on this morning. I was worried it may rub but doesn't at all, full lock forward or reverse driving on the street. I'm in love with my 4R all over again!

there are some reports of fitment where its not 100% flush like OEM if you look at the picture above with the fogs theres a slight space between the fog and the circular black plastic housing.

Interesting, I had to slip the mounting brackets in a certain way to get it to sit flush, but had no issues with a gap

Picked up a handle of vodka and a case of water.

Ready for the storm.

Oh, ready for looters as well....

Went to the Oregon Dunes on the coast. Sand was too soft and deep for my T4 without another 4x along. Rented a Polaris RZR 570, my wife, son and I took turns going out. Felt bad leaving the T4 behind.
