Woke up to find out the valet backed my 4Runner into another vehicle. I new something was wrong when they took 35min to bring it around.

Hopefully they fix it. All I could think of was Ferris Buehler’s day off, Off Road style. Never trust a valet.

Got a problem with my 2011 4R Lim.ed

Hello there owners,

I’ve got an issue with my 2011 Limited edition 4R, particularly with my head unit. I know that this thread isn’t for problems but I got lost in forum, so I’m just posting it here. So, the issue is in that multimedia centre. At first it couldn’t see any phone connected via usb cable. Then it simply couldn’t even show names of the songs or any interface at all, the screen would simply go black after connecting a phone w/ Bluetooth. I tried to erase data from it but that wouldn’t work. When getting that vehicle to official dealer, they didn’t know what to do with it. My model is from US, while I live in Kazakhstan, pretty far away, huh? So, after inspecting my car they just suggested me to find software update on my own because they hadn’t had one. For a moment I just forgot about the issue and was driving without music from my phone. But then worst things started to happen, now it doesn’t even want to play FM/AM radio correctly. All frequencies are messed up, they have no order like: 103,3 FM ; 101,1 FM ; 108,1 FM ; 83,3 FM and so on. Then I found an entune update but that was for 2012 Toyota 4R wih nav. Head units seem to be the same but according to instruction, I must go to “Apps” menu and then connect the usb drive with an update. Yet there’s another problem, when pressed - nothing happens. Sometimes “Audio” button doesn’t work too, so I cannot even choose the source of music.

In a conclusion, I am stuck with almost not working head unit. If someone has seen something like that, please say me what could I do?

P.S Recently I took my car to dealer once again, now they offered me to replace the whole unit, but that would cost me 3,000$ That’s insane!

Just drove back from Asheville, NC. My 3-year old son and I were turned away from overland East due to the campground area being half mud (I purchased a weekend camping pass last July). Their website says they don’t do refunds for weather, but hopefully they offer refunds if you actually try to go and they send you away.

That was a long 2 days driving there and back with a toddler. Fortunately Asheville has some fun things to do and we managed to find a hotel.

Carbon fiber look vinyl on the ugly black plastic door pillars. I tried a plastic coating that was supposed to provide a permanent shine but it just looked streaky to me. After my first try (ruined a piece of vinyl) I got the hang of it.

I’d honestly rather have that than a refund. This was my first “boys trip” with my son, and he was looking forward to seeing “trucks with tents”.

Hopefully the Overland folks try a different venue next year. There didn’t appear to be a huge amount of rain, but the campground looked like soup. Not a very dependable location.

Spent the weekend camping up on Palomar Mountain. Froze our butts off but found a fun road for the return trip. My fiance was a bit clenched looking off the passenger side, it was probably a thousand feet to the bottom.

A friend and I went camping at Deer Park in Olympic National Park. The campground is right around 5400 ft, so the road normally closes in October. When we learned it was still open and the forecast for the weekend was good, we decided we couldn't let the opportunity pass. After setting up camp, we hiked around explored the area for a bit and got some amazing views from the top of Blue mountain. After a very cold (~15°) night, we got up and made our way back to the top of Blue Mountain for the sunrise. We could see Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan, Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams off in the distance, poking above the clouds. It was worth braving the cold and the wind at the peak!

It feels like it has more pickup but definitely more sound when you hammer it. MPG’s didn’t change.
