So far so good. It's only been a 5 days, but the ride is no different, the stance is better without a reverse rake. Installation was easy, two of us installed it in about 3 1/2 hrs. Alignment yesterday was back to within factory specs. I do not have KDSS.

New Optima Battery

For my 2015 Trail I replaced the OEM Panasonic car battery that just went dead sitting in the garage. Got an Optima Red Cap battery instead of another cheap lead acid battery.
I went to Pep Boys here in my neighborhood because they were the same price everywhere and they'd dispose of my old battery. I had asked for the Optima Yellow Cap battery, anticipating that I'll be installing a winch soon. I went for coffee and when I got back they said, "Hey, the Red Cap has more CCA and it's on sale for $45 less than the Yellow Cap. So we installed a Red Cap." I asked Manny, Moe and Jack if they knew the difference and of course they said, "No". I suggested they go to the Optima website and watch the short video that explains the diff' and I explained it to them. I don't have the winch yet and it was less expensive so I let it go. Nice guys at Pep Boys but not the best listeners. :noidea:

Well apparently TRD Pro body parts are going the same route as so many other brand specialty vehicles and they're starting to require VINs before letting you buy parts. So I had to go ahead and jump on the eBay deals before they disappear.

Wasn't wanting to dump $600 on chunks of black plastic this quickly, but it looks like we may not have a choice in the very, very near future.

I wish you luck. Optima is by no means what it used to be. A lot of places don't even sell them anymore due to their failure rate. In all honesty, you would have been better off with a good quality acid battery.

Unfortunately I'd have to agree with you. They used to be great long lasting batteries but now the failure rate is terrible. Kinda strange but the Cabelas AMG Marine/Starting battery are holding up really good. They are a good replacement for the Yellow Top battery.

15 years ago the yellow top was hard to beat. Not sure what they did or what they changed but they are junk these days. Deep cycle batteries are also not designed to be used as every day batteries. Yellow top is deep cycle, red top is not. Deep cycle batteries want to be killed and drained regularly/ Using them as your every day starting battey cuts their life down as well. IMO AGM is also not at all designed for our vehicles with OEM charging systems. They never really charge completely which cooks them before their normal failure time. A good quality acid battery will last you many years and will perform plenty well in a daily driver.

I will have to disagree with you on the AMG battery. many of the new cars that have batteries located inside the passenger compartments and trucks are coming standard with AMG batteries. My Cadillac CTS-V had and factory AMG battery in the truck. The are very good batteries and are not to be confused with deep cycle batteries, rather they are more like Gel Cell batteries. But you are correct in that a good quality Lead Acid battery will be very well when maintained properly.

My answer to that would be, I think the charging system with the cars and trucks that come from the factory with AGM batteries was designed to charge AGM batteries. I have never personally ran one, just going off what I have read, but the OEM 4R charging system just doesn't seem to peak charge them. Who knows though, I ready it on the internet so it must me true! lol

Looks awesome! Especially since you don't have to poke new holes in the roof - I'll have look into that.

Right now I just have a universal rack for when we go camping that attaches to the factory cross bars. Wouldn't mind a more permanent option.

It doesn't count for today, but last night I pulled off the front bumper to add LEDs behind the lower grill. Originally tried to go in from above but after removing the radiator guard and emblem assembly, I couldn't remove the upper grill for the life of me. The bumper took about 10 minutes to remove-- really wish I'd thought to do that first!

I put Morimoto 2stroke 2.0 today. Bright as my H9 (maybe a little more). Much whiter light (Lexus Oem color tone). Loving them. Picked them up off a member here a few days ago.

I've also been shopping around locally for vinyl wrapping (color change). Anyone else do this or have received quotes for it? I'm getting like $3k and above for a color change wrap from a couple shops.

Did my 5000 mile oil change and installed my yellow LED fogs. Very happy with the fogs bulbs, cheap O from EBAY. For anyone with RCI skids, I highly suggest you remove them when performing your oil change. They may make it easier to access the drain plug and filter but they by no means make oil changes easier. Oil spills EVERYWHERE when you pull the drain plug. Had to remove it to clean it, may as well just remove it to change the oil.

Wow, yeah the drain valve with some tubing hooked it sounds like it should be on your radar. I still have yet to do an oil change since putting my RCI skids on, about 1k miles out. Now I am wondering, lol
