What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

I'm terrible at taking before and during pictures but these things have been well documented in this forum and others. Replaced rusty factory brake rotors and pads with a powerstop kit (wish I had purchased new calipers too), spidertrax wheel spacers, and the front half of a daystar lift kit. I wanted to see if just doing the front half would look ok but it clearly does not! Looks like I'll be back at it this weekend doing the rear. I did get one picture of the rust that came off one of the front rotors. Washed it this morning... notice all of the salt in the parking lot?! Going for alignment this afternoon.

Here is a side-by-side of the OEM light on the left, black version on the right. Subtle but anything to get rid of the chrome.

Installed a Raingler cargo attic ceiling net. Pretty happy with it so far. It will be a great place to store jackets, blankets, and small misc items.

I believe the size is 21x36. But it’s spcificslly for the cargo area attic.

Lifeline, how did you secure the cargo net in front?

It comes with the hardware to install. You mount it to the C & d pillars, as well as the coat hooks in back. So 6 points total.

door handle color change

Finally got around to replacing the ugly chrome door handles on my 13’ SR5. Didn’t take before photos and the truck is filthy. End result...magnetic grey handles. The process was pretty straight forward but getting the rear door panels back on was a total pain in the @ss. Now I have to get rid of the remaining chrome.

Front End Mods

Had the day off today after the Super Bowl, so I got the time to install a black OEM front bumper valance and a pair of Baja Design Squadron Sport fogs. Really happy with how it turned out.

I was able to drive in the snow for the first time in the new 4R. Did my best to acclimate myself to 2H vs 4H in snow with stops, starts, cornering and hills. 4H is clearly the winner but 2H is more fun. Dogs had a good time too!

Thanks. The quality of the clear and black paint on my 2001 4Runner that I owned for over 17 years was fantastic. The new paints and clear are water based or eco friendly and not as good. I’m glad I had the paint correction and ceramic coating done. I keep my vehicles for a long time. The bumper guard is a Tyger, which, IMO was the best looking bumper guard out there. It is $179 on Amazon and is an easy install. I’m not ready to spend $1000 to $1500 for parts and labor for a low profile winch bumper at this time. This works great for my lights and license plate and adds some protection, as I have already encountered, a driver backing up in to my guard while I was parked.

Super jealous of you up there! We keep getting great forecasts down here and then all of the storms come in too warm and rainy (Baldy is my home mountain). Got a Mammoth trip planned during the week after president's day so I hope it's a great week!
