What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

How does the size / weight feel compared to the 265 wildpeaks you were running before? I noticed your 265’s were LT from your sig. I’ve got 265 p-rated on mine. Just did a 2.5 / 2 inch lift with bilsteins. I think it still looks ok with the 265’s

I put about 100 miles on them yesterday & I didn't really notice a difference. I do drive like a lil ol lady tho, lol. I'll have a better idea once we take a trip & load some stuff up.

Glad to hear it wasn't a big change. Post some feedback after your trip. I've seen a lot of people say the 4runner feels like it loses a lot of power after going to 285's. I hope falken drops some p285's down the road.

accessorizing my accessories

Got a new warn 1.5 inch fairlead, and some factor 55 bling bling, which means it won't fit under my flip up license plate holder, so that holder had to go.

Also, the folder was starting to rust, and since I live by the beach, sand and salt was getting trapped between my steel bumper and fairlead b/c of the fold up license plate holder. So, now I'm running heavy duty magnets on my plates (pic 3). I only plan on using it when I go on long trips, and yeah, I'm aware i have to remove it everytime I park.

I also made home made aluminum plates to cover my winch access holds using a souvenier aluminum street sign and magnets (this failed). I ended up just using double sided tape b/c the magnets didn't hold. Of course, I had to plastidip the whole thing. The reason I did this, was I don't want people to Fck with my winch. My vehicle gets alot of love from my neighbors, but it only takes one Fckface to give me a bad day. Also its 100 percent removable/reversable when I have to use my winch. Yes, I know it looks like shit, but I don't want to put more work into this, bc well i'm lazy.

I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I actually like the drive-ability with these 305s more than with my old 285s on stock gearing.

On the 285s, the transmission had to keep switching between gears on hill climbs. On the 305s it stays in the lower gear and gets me up the hill without any struggle. On the freeway it's easier to maintain 80mph.

I was slightly worried about needing a regear but I'm totally happy as is. That being said, I do plan to regear down the road, if or when I decide to put in a front locker and replace the needle bearing that some people say go bad.

Overall I think going bigger than 285 took me out of this awkward in-between phase with the factory diff/transmission gearing.

I'm curious what the bigger tires and lower gears on climbs has done to your fuel consumption. Have you compared?

It is absolutely worse than it was with 285s. But it is still too early to tell how much worse. I don't do much driving during the week so I'll have a better idea after the weekend.

Snorkel & Super chargers

So, I have a 2018 Trd off road, I have a K&N cold air intake (love the sound), does anyone know if I can add a snorkel and keep the intake or do I need to go back to factory?

Second question. Super chargers, beast or bust? I mean who doesn't love the idea to take these bad Larry's from 270hp to a potential 350hp?

oem or trd intake if you want to go with a safari snorkel

so i decided to put componets in the truck because the stock speakers are just really that bad. got some rainbow cal27 tweeters and rainbow 6 1/2" profi kicks that have been laying around. speaker bracktets were fabricated from 1/4" abs plastic sheet.

As stated before, OEM intake or the TRD intake are your only options with a snorkel. As for the intake, you gain 100 HP to the wheels, that's pretty significant but so is the price tag. You will also void your warranty with a supercharger so that's a big thing in my book.

I'm guessing you mean supercharger not intake here? Also 100 whp??? I don't think so unless you have some dyno sheets to back that up. So that would be a 125 crank hp gain and almost a 50% hp increase over stock. How much boost are we talking here, 15psi?

After about 5 months, finally got the new wheels and suspension installed:rockon:

Of course supercharger not intake lol Yes, Magnuson has dyno proven 100 WHP with their supercharger. I believe they're at 6 or 8 psi, we could make a boat load of power if they went more aggressive with the tune also. They build and tune their superchargers to give a bump in power but also stay very reliable. $6000 plus install assuming you're not installing it yourself is a good bit of $ to spend even though the 100 HP gain would be awesome. I may do it one day and I will install it myself but that day will not come until it's paid off and warranty has expired. Not worth giving up my warranty IMO Same goes for gearing the axles, I would like to go 4.56 but not worth giving up my warranty at this point.

Any links to those claims or results. I'm looking at a few dyno graphs and seeing about 70hp and 60tq gains at the wheels. I'm pretty sure those are with factory can tunes. I'm sure more could be had with a custom dyno tune. I'm interested if 100 rwhp can be safely achieved.

I own, drive, turn wrenches , and tune a supercharged car. 100whp gains on a non-performance V-6 is stout.

Stock dyno 250 to the wheels, 348 after the supercharger. 98 HP to the wheels gain and this is direct from Magnuson.

I hear him saying that but didn't see a graph posted. You need to look at things on the graph like the CR. There are lots of tricks that can be played on the dyno. He also says results as low as 30%, which would be about 80 fwhp. Those are the numbers I'm seeing actual dyno graphs for as well. I'm not saying impossible, I'm just not convinced. LOL

Now if you could get these computer to run in Flex Fuel mode and throw in some E-85 those numbers could go way up. I make almost 100 more hp going from 93 octane to 60+% E-85, at the same boost level.

I agree, proof is when you see it in writing or see it for yourself. Magnuson has been around a long time though so I tend to believe what they say. They do run very conservative tunes and only 6 PSI so with a more aggressive tune and a little more boost, I'm sure the number could be significantly higher. The question there would be reliability of everything behind the supercharger. Engine, axles, transmission, transfer case, you know the deal. With an intake, something like the URD Y pipe, decent cat back, I'm sure the results are pleasing.

Yep I agree with you on all of those points. I've been selling, installing and tuning those systems since they were magnacharger and only had GM applications available. They are a solid company with extremely high quality stuff. I don't think they would outright lie but I could see them stretching the truth just a little though. Lol

Here is a graph that's in line with what I'm saying.

Technically did this last weekend, forgot to take pics as garage time was running out and had Dad duties.

Lost one screw during the install, luckily it came with one extra.
