I hate the black wheels now. I think I’m going to paint them bronze because I’m poor.

I hate the black wheels now. I think I’m going to paint them bronze because I’m poor.
Sort of 4Runner related: have a deposit down on a No Boundaries 16.5 travel trailer that we may be picking up as soon as this weekend. I've never owned a travel trailer before so it's pretty exciting. Should obligate us to get out into the wilderness a bunch more and allow us to camp out on the Olympic Peninsula through Winter which is awesome.
Unfortunately I couldn't get my wife on board with the idea of a custom-built teardrop from High Camp Trailers. She prefers to have an interior place to hang out and take refuge during the rain like a dinette rather than just a bed inside of a trailer. Oh well! Happy wife and all that...
I've never purchased such a terrifyingly awful depreciating asset before, but I suppose you gotta pay to play. Unfortunately we live in an apartment so I've got pay for storing it somewhere, but we are going to give up one of our parking spots at the building to free up the money for it, so not a huge deal.
But yeah a bit stressed about the finances and quality of it. I suppose getting a piece of shit that costs $20k is better than getting a piece of shit that costs $50-100k like some of the bigger-dog trailers that all have the same issues as the cheapo ones. Luckily I'm good about maintenance and am handy enough to hopefully be able to nip anything not covered by the warranty in the bud. A PNW winter shakedown should hopefully reveal any deficiencies so I can make sure all warranty work gets taken care of after a good amount of abuse.

Jumping into a 5th Gen
I currently drive an 05 4runner and am looking to replace my wife's suv with a new (to me) 4runner that I would start driving once the 05' finally dies. I've seen a 16' TE and 18' SR5 for around the same price with the same number of miles ($30k for 35K Miles) and was wondering what the better buy would be. It'll spend most of the time on pavement with nothing offroad that my stock 05' SR5 hasn't been able to easily handle. I know the resale on the TE is supposidly better but I plan on keeping it for 10+ years so I'm not concerned with that. I would love to get as crazy as some of the mods on here but I'm probably sticking to tires, wheels and maybe a slight lift but nothing too crazy since it will be my DD. Wanted to see what the general thoughts were between the two?:thanks:

Looks good! Bronze will be killer. I am hoping to add bronze Trail wheels eventually.

Got my new vinyl decals on my 2 week old SCS wheels. I like the army green much better than the neon yellow.

Rotated Tires
I usually go the America’s Tires for free rotation and balance. But my Michelin ATs have been riding so smooth on the highway I figure they didn’t need balancing. So today I practiced the process of changing a tire by rotating them per the 2018 user manual (fronts to back, back to front, same side) using the spare while swapping positions (no jack stands). It also gave me the chance to try out my new tool, a jack adapter from Land Cruiser Products.

I painted mine white to make it more visible. It works well for jacking by centering itself around either side of the rear axle with the OEM bottle jack. Otherwise the point of contact with the jack head alone is so small on a round location it made me nervous. This jack adapter on the 4R is really only useful for jacking the rear. At the front locations per the manual you jack at a point on the frame which is large and flat. A pretty solid location for the bottle jack alone to hold onto reliably.

Why buy a 18 SR5 with 35k miles for $30k when you can buy a brand new 19 SR5 with no miles for $33K out the door?
Get the 19 with the warranty, don't pay new truck prices for a 16 or 18...that's just foolish.

I never had any problems with the overlays. Just make sure you clean everything before putting them on and you'll be fine.

$7.50 a piece which isn’t bad. I bought a full set of neon yellow ones but didn’t like the way it looked so I cut these myself using their sticker as a template because they don’t offer the stickers in that color.

I've had mine on for over a year and they've all stayed on.
That's good to know. I live in Florida, and my worry was the heat and rain.

Mine have survived snow, ice, heat and tons of rain. We've had record setting rainfall this year, and my car is kept outside all the time. They're held on with 3M red badge tape.
