Why buy a 18 SR5 with 35k miles for $30k when you can buy a brand new 19 SR5 with no miles for $33K out the door?

Get the 19 with the warranty, don't pay new truck prices for a 16 or 18...that's just foolish.

Downside of high resale value: great for trade-in (especially in a state with high sales tax); makes private sale more difficult.

Has anyone done the Black overlays vs swapping the badges out entirely? Do they stay on?

My understanding is the overlays are what you come from the dealer if you order new with the black emblems. I purchased mine separately because the dealer tried to charge me $200 for just the rear emblem and "4Runner" (everything else was already black).

I never had any problems with the overlays. Just make sure you clean everything before putting them on and you'll be fine.

From my recent searches, it's about 1/2 the price to do new emblems vs. the overlays. Doesn't make a ton of sense to me, but I'm really wanting blackout stuff, so I'll probably replace vs. cover.

Guys, if you're interested, I put this set of LED bulbs in my 2013 SR5 and they're so bright, they hurt people's feelings. Probably need to aim them down just a bit, but it's really nice to be able to see well at night....

I read somewhere that the local city council is looking to close Pismo to OHV. Have they changed their mind or is still an ongoing debate? It'd be a sure shame if that happens. It's a fun place.

The California Coastal Commission met last month and voted 8-2 to keep the dunes open to OHV......At least for now.......

Installed my AJT Design climate control knobs to match the shift knob. Hopefully one day there will be a drive selector knob for the SR5 to finish the look. Sorry for the dirty interior

I just wanted to post a tip about aiming headlights, i found adjusting low beams a bit easier if you do it not when it's completely dark. Of course not during the middle of the day either, but as the sun is about to go down with low light as this helps show the focus area of the headlight and not the spill area. I set the focus area about 35" high above the ground, this was hard to do at night because it's hard to tell where the focus of the beam is on a white garage door.

Great tip. I was very disappointed at the as-delivered aiming of the low beams and was looking at options to switch to. That upper cut-off was ridiculously low, so I figured I had nothing to lose by adjusting the headlights. They were way out of spec using the traditional method of checking. I re-adjusted them and now it is not even an issue for me now.
