Wow! I've been planning a DV trip that involved the racetrack and exiting via Cerro Gordo. I've heard that Lippincott can be a real bear, would you not recommend it in its current condition? Hope they can pull that truck out, though I know the recovery cost will be astronomical. Poor dude. Did you re-route via Hunter and then around to Teakettle?

That's it exactly, Hunter, through the pines, into Hidden Valley to Teakettle. Got to the lake after dark and found an Israeli couple in shorts in the dark. They got dropped off after hitching a ride (their van couldn't cope with the washboard road) and no one ever came though again until me. They were 12 miles from their camp, so back to Teakettle. As for me and the Lippicott... No more washed out goat trails by myself. When I roll down a hill and die I need someone to at least take a video so I can make it on to Failblog. You can do it now, if I can do it any fool can, but watch out after the next rain.

I saw that same truck on Saturday. Its a 2wd rental truck. All 4 tires on the ground had air when I saw it. Looked like someone had kicked in the grill a few times.
FYI, if you go back there most people go from Playa down to Saline Valley road. Not a set rule or a 1 way road but just relaying what is customary

Yup, the grill was bashed in, *#%hole was keyed into the paint and there were 3 flats with a flat spare in the bed. My guide book, Backcountry Adventures, only described the trail directions from the Saline Valley to the Race
track, not the other way. I just have to say having done it both ways, down was worse. I'll go back after the washouts are fixed. Did you run the tail or hike down to the truck?

We started driving down the trail from the racetrack and did not get far when we saw the truck.
My friend that frequents DV said the only tow company that will come out there will probably charge $4000-$5000 to pull that truck out of there.

Camped out

Spent Halloween in Jerome Az near and old ghost town

Installed the Rago Center Console Modular Storage Panel w/Bridge Plate this afternoon (pretty easy install to complete in a little over an hour or so). Added the 67 Designs ball mounts with carbon fiber arms (and Universal Phone Holder), to the Rago Bridge Plate. Gobi Stealth (no rise) Rack coming in Thursday, C4 Low Profile Front Bumper coming back from powder coat in a couple of days, so next week is going to be a long one (I need an install vacation). :doh:

Enjoy skinning your knuckles going in and out of 4lo. Surprised they would included that hardware. I would swap those out asap. Unless you don't offroad then I guess who cares.

As per park service, truck is gone and trail reopened today.
