1. Cool I want one.
2. Where's the cheapest place to get a Toyota CAI
3. Does it need to be installed by Toyota to be covered under warranty?

Thanks!

2. Cheapest place is to buy the 6 parts online for around $220 from a Toyota dealer. Add another $65 if you want the TRD pre-oiled filter. You'll need about $10-20 in additional installation parts since you're not buying the full kit. e.g. 20" Wire Loom, 20" Vaccuum Hose, zip ties and electrical tape if you don't have any. Tons of good info in this post: How-To-Guide (TRD CAI) Installation

There's a 10% off coupon that ends today, 2/17 ("MATCH"). Gives 10% off and free shipping on TRD parts. You could buy the full kit for around $350.

3. Not sure if there's a technical answer for this. I don't think it would need to be installed by Toyota. Do you have to get your oil changed done at Toyota for them to do warranty claims if there's some engine problems? Maybe someone else can chime in, but there's been a lot of people adding TRD CAIs and I haven't read of any issues with warranty around it.

Side note: I read that magnason superchargers won't void your warranty if it's installed by an ASE certified mechanic. Maybe there's a requirement there since the supercharger is not OEM Toyota. JFYI, magnason used to be the manufacturer of the Toyota TRD superchargers when they had them as an option back in 2013 and earlier.

Last night I completed an oil change, driveshaft greasing, TRD CAI, and mounted the ARB breather in the engine bay. I'll run the breather lines tonight. Ordering the TRD CAI parts separately is the way to go. Cost me $249 shipped plus $10 for wire loom and vacuum line.

installed 700 lb icon coilover springs at a buddy's house. tool worked great to remove spring. however, tried to use it on the vehicle since the adjustment holes were all getting destroyed, shot off and smashed my foot. Not broken luckily.

The 700lb springs made the ride so much better.

More issues once again

Today I spent another couple hours cleaning my cold air intake that I’ve continued to have problems with. I keep getting a check engine light and the codes are “too lean bank 1 and 2” and then something with my MAF sensor. So I thought it could be a vacuum leak, I’ve had some people come and look and agree that’s all it is. I still drive normal and my car isn’t in limp mode, but I figured taking it apart and making putting it back together my magically get rid of this vacuum leak. Whenever I clear the code, it stays gone for about 15 minutes of driving and then comes back randomly. If anyone knows what might help, please let me know. My 4runner is my baby. 2015 SR5, I’ve been messing with this intake for about a month now. Even bought and replaced a brand new MAF sensor!

You’re not likely to have a vacuum leak from your CAI, as it’s not a closed system. I would probably check the PCV.

Added some Shrockworks sliders. Not an easy install, but not a bad one either. Two people makes a huge difference. You can definitely feel the extra 90 lbs, but not in a bad way. I’m glad i asked a friend to help me install these. I was going to have them installed, but the guy didn’t call me back. He quoted me $350 and i was willing to pay that since i was worried about the dropping the gas tank skid. Although it was a pain in the ass to get the tank strap bolt back in, it was a relatively easy install with two people.

Hoping to swap out my TRD Pro roof rack for some OEM black rails this week as my next mod. Definitely needs some more aggressive tires. KO2, Wildpeaks or Duratracs possibly.

Did you get both hoses installed on the CAI? More specifically the tiny tiny little hose?

Please throw those spring compressors in the ****ing garbage. Next time it could be your face.

This method works a charm. No need for sketchy tools.

Also I dig the light/bumper setup. Looks good.

Got my Falken Wildpeak A/T3w's mounted last night. 265/70/17 E rated, on Icon Alpha wheels 17x8.5 (Backspace 4.75 and offset 0), stock suspension.
Got to test them out in the snow on the way home and I was much more comfortable driving with these in 2wd on the street than the stock Dunlops. I have them at 40 psi right now, ride is a little bit stiffer but these are quite refreshing compared to the numb feeling the P rated Dunlops have.

Thanks for the compliment. The lights look wonky there because the two outer ones are turned out a bit. never looks good in pics...The compressor it worked great when used properly. I was trying to use it in an improper way tho. Definitely sketchy and if it were my face it would have been baaaaad. I definitely agree that they can be dangerous af

Sliders before a lift, tires, and wheels. Classy move my friend.

I did the same thing. Reason being it adds protection to the side of my truck from all the losers out there that have no respect when they open their doors. Also helps my kids get in. And it looks good.
