I prefer driving with the headlights and fogs as well which is why I've been hesitant on buying Baja Designs fogs cause I've been on the other side of those on the road and might as well drive with high beams on.

How's the response on the road, have opposite drivers flash you at all?

Do not get the Baja Designs if you plan on driving with them on the road. They are not a street legal fog light. They are useless in actual fog or snow, and they will blind oncoming drivers.

If you want a true street legal fog pattern that will not blind other drivers, and actually be useful in inclement weather, get the SS3 fogs from Diode Dynamics. Here is an objective comparison thread where they are far and away the clear winner.

Installed a set of Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport fog lights and I'm pretty impressed with the light output. So much brighter than the stock halogens. I also tried to install BeamTech LED low beams but the heatsink wouldn't allow them to fit so I just put in a set of Silverstar halogens. I'm sure the Silverstars won't last too long so I'll probably switch to an LED bulb that fits when those go out.

Save your money and return those garbage LED lights, they're dimmer than stock at distance projecting (as are all other LED drop-in bulbs).

Keep your halogen bulbs unless you plan on doing a real retrofit. They're the only bulbs that will perform correctly. Good move on the SS3 fogs though.

In preparation for a long off road trip in Colorado, have spent a lot of COVID hours in the garage on the 4runner. It has changed a lot in 2 months.

New Yokohama Geolander M/T's - 285/70 17's.

Built a box of drawers.

Ordered a Fridge

Cut the steps off the N-Fab's

Installed a Victory 4x4 Bumper, Smittybilt Winch.
Uninstalled a Victory 4x4 Bumper to install a 20" BD S8 Lightbar
Reinstalled a Victory 4x4 Bumper, Smittybilt Winch.

Installed a SwitchPros 9100 and PowerTrays tray. A must if you're planning any...any lights.

Installed a Victory 4x4 Roof Rack
Installed a Rig'd Supply tire swing and spare. Wired tag lights.

Installed BD S2 Sports for Side Lites on the Victory 4x4 Roof Rack.
Installed BD S2 Sports in the rear bumper corners for reverse/camping lights.

Installed KC Cyclone Rock Lights and lights and lights and stuff.
Obviously did a TON of wiring and some more wiring.

Test fit Yakima Skyrise.

Summer 2019 & Now

I just went with load range C. Majority of my driving is in town, but excited to have these when I head up to the hills and hit some forest service roads.

There was little price difference between load range C and E, and I hate flat tires. Plus I do have a utility trailer and haul a couple tons of heating pellets annually. I had already cut the sidewalls on my OEM tires on just a couple of trails in the mountains near the house.

Thank you for the compliment. I’m not a big fan of silver vehicles, but it’s growing on me. I think the dark gray color on the 4Runner is quite handsome and there’s a couple in my small town, but the silver doesn’t show the dust and dirt as bad, nor the ice and mud that builds up on the tailgate in winter. My dark gray Subaru Outback looks quite crappy during the winter months.

Just ditch the N-fabs all together. If you smash the n-fab steps it's going to mess up your rocker and body panel anyways. You could have easily just sold the n-fabs and put the money towards sliders but they're basically trashed now.
Get a proper set of sliders before all the other mods.

One of my biggest peeves at night is other drivers at night with their high beams on. They stun my eyes pretty bad even if I don't directly look at them so I'm definitely not looking to be that guy to others.

The SS3 fogs have won me over and they'll be replacing the stock fogs when I'm ready. Just have to decide if I want to shell out the extra cash for the Pros or get the Sports and call it a day.

Wow...post a ton of work and you go for the N-Fabs. Brand new $300. With the little big of rust on them, I may have gotten $50 out of them or had to store in my garage until I decided to give them away for free. I guess if I smash them, they're trash anyway, right? So if they're trashed now, they are basically trash anyway. At least now they don't catch the amount of mud they did when they were really impractical. Thanks for the advice on the mods. On my next build I'll make sure and get a proper set of sliders before anything else. Then again...I could have traded them for another bottle of whiskey.

What would you suggest for drl's/high beams?

9011 bulbs will fit after a small plastic tab trim, which is detailed here:

I did it with small, sharp tin snips, very easy to do (remember to wear gloves when handling halogen bulbs).

Also, if you're interested in even more (street legal) high beam light, you can install a set of J581 driving lamps. Several companies make lights that are compliant with the SAE J581 spec to use as auxiliary high beams, like KC HiLiTES, Rigid, and Diode Dynamics. I used a pair of Diode Dynamics SS3 pods (same as the fog lights, but with different optics) and some custom brackets for even more high-beam punch. I wired them using an ON-OFF-ON switch so I can either turn them on independently or with high beams only, so they can easily be dipped with the factory stalk for oncoming traffic.
