Joshua Tree BLM camping. The park itself is full, and dispersed camping was a lot better for our GSD’s. Photo is red because of the amber color feature of the LED strip. What a fun night.

It’s a Kelty Low Loveseat. Super comfortable. It comes with a carrying case that makes it easier to lug around. We’ve used the case as a blanket when we didn’t have one on other trips.

I moved my fire extinguisher from my molle rack - it rattled too much. I made the bracket out of aluminum. It is designed fit in to recessed shape of the factory panel. One of my shop cats, GC, wanted to be in the picture of the part.

Cargo/sleep platform is pretty much done. Into it for less then $300 bucks with some nice carpentry tools added to the collection. I would be interested in seeing what the extra $1000 gets you with goose gear setup...siiike!

Southern end (Baker Creek) of Coyote flats! Pretty much had the area to ourselves. Hiked up to some of the lakes west of the area.

Did you take the route from Big Pine? I've only taken the easy road from Bishop, I hear the southern road is a bit tougher.

Can you put that bracket on it’s side?

No, the bolt is not centered in the panel so you can not twist the bracket. You also could not change the orientation of the fire extinguisher face plate because the holes are are not evenly spaced left/right top/bottom. I never considered designing the bracket for horizontal mounting but I think I may like that better. Maybe I will make a second one to see which I like best.

Prob not tbh. That’s something I should have been working on while making it if that was the plan.

It definitely needs to be field tested too before I can recommend my design. I went a slightly different route then I’ve seen with other builds.

Recognized the region. Lived in June Lake and Big Pine since the 1970s until 2008 when I moved to north-central Nevada.

I wouldn’t recommend the road from Big Pine unless you are with an experienced group and your 4Runner hyper-modified. Even then, my opinion is that the 4Runner too wide to fit.

I haven’t been up that way since I moved from Big Pine in 2008, but used to drive up as far as I could and hiked up into the meadows at Onion Creek.

Back then, anything larger than a 1984-2002 Cherokee was pushing the limit on the narrow shelf road trail for a short distance past Glacier View, though fine for bikes and quads. One mistake and one was in for hours of triangulated winching. That, and one is forced to drive up and over large boulders.

If he hadn't had the trailer he probably would have been good. Trailers will always bog you down in mud or sand. Next time drop the trailer, then pull it out by itself. That is if you don't bury the 4R too bad. Been there done that. Happy Memorial day everyone...cheers!
