What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Replaced front brakes and also installed longer studs on the front. These are off of the rear of a Toyota Matrix. Approximately 15mm longer. For anyone running aftermarket wheels there isn’t much left to grab onto when running the factory studs. These add about 1/2” of thread.

4runner is twice the weight of a toyota matrix. I'm not an engineer but, I would be weary of shear strength of those.

I would replace those with some ARP studs which are rated higher then OEM but that's just me.

Did you go in reverse with the door open and then slam the brakes? That’s the only thing I can imagine that would qualify as the perfect handoff.

Understand what your saying but they use the same lug nut so.......? I’m not worried about these, this has been done before without issue. Everything is torqued to the correct ft. lbs, which most places don’t do. Then they wonder why they sheared a stud.

Just because the thread pitch is the same doesn't mean they are the same material or heat treated the same. Proper TQ won't matter if the metal is only spec for x amount of lateral force.

At a glace the only threads I found about them are quite old with no follow up.

You do you tho i'm open to being wrong. Personally I would have gone the arp route just to be safe but my wheels don't need the extra length so :shrug:
