Are these the "Pro" or "Sport" power level? I am stuck between which ones to order.

I went with the sports as they were on sale for $160. I liked the numbers of the pro but just couldnt afford them. That being said, the output and cutoffs on the sports are great! Was originally considering the bd squadron sae but the Tacoma world review,BDs own fix to make it compliant, and their design philosophy (as they said it) was less than stellar.

You have to remove the air cleaner assembly and The power steering pump. The power steering pump gets set aside and that give you enough room to get a 3/8 drive ratchet and 17mm socket to remove it.

Part Numbers are

15772-31010 Pipe, Oil
90401-16043 Bolt, Union X2
90430-16016 Gasket, lower end of the line
90430-16012 Gasket, to Valve cover X2

Torque specs for the both bolts on the line is 48 ft-lb. don’t forget to transfer over the oil screen that’s inside the top bolt.

They're also not remotely street-legal so please make sure not to use them with any opposing traffic!

That’s kinda the deal with high-beams in general though no? I appreciate DOT regulations as much as anyone else, but I’m not sure I’d be too enthused to turn the corner and meet your street legal “J581 compliant” setup head on either.

Tasteful discretion is the name of the game, and since I’m not blinding oncoming traffic like a tool by using them wisely, I want the brightest gd lights available and I seem to have found them. Light bars seem unnecessary with this kinda output, and that was the whole goal.

I went with the Pro version, put up some pics a couple pages back. I’m really happy with them, mostly for how much they light up the side of the road. I also highly recommend the article SpeedyKevin linked. The DD SS3s put out more useable light than all the major brands aside from Rigid I believe, but the spread of the light was substantially better.

Our slimline front bumper from SSO just arrived. It was the very first item I ordered for mod'ing our 4Runner.

I knew there would be a long-ish lead time, plus the extreme impact that COVID-19 had on Louisiana made for a long wait. (I'm glad that actions were taken to help keep people safe, so that delay didn't bother me!). But now that wait is going to pay off .

Before installing the light-bar & winch, and getting this on the vehicle...
I guess the work on this has to wait until Thursday...

For sure, these are not for use around town. They're great for dark back roads and long desert highways, where opposing traffic will be intermittent. And they're tapped into the stock high-beam switch so I can dip them quickly like stock.

The biggest advantage is if I do get pulled over on a dark highway by an LEO asking why my lights are so bright, I can point to the SAE Y19 stamp on the lens.

My 90 year old Mom was getting cabin fever. So was I. I took her out for a picnic in the hills not far from home. Tossed in a few critters and a ghost town at the end.

Got her shoes wet a few times.

Our lunch spot with 9,680’ high Mt. Lewis dominating (also seen in the photo above). Usually still pockets of snow up there, but it was a dry winter. Lunch was from Port of Subs.

I have navigation in the 4Runner, but still like to use my eTrex on backroad trips. This was at our lunch spot.

A couple of antelope fawns. Mom and dad were nearby.

Tenabo ghost town. It was of early 20th century origins. Active mining is still going on nearby.

It was a nice day. Was out about seven hours and traveled just over 200 miles.

A few months ago I found a pristine set of predator steps in some local classifieds for $240. I backed out because even though I could afford it, it was the same day that I had new Ridge Grapplers installed and throwing down that much money in one day on my 4Runner made me feel guilty. I've regretted not buying them ever since!

Yesterday I found another set also in pristine condition for only $200! They were far away in Colorado, but I have a brother in law who lives in the same town who picked it up for me and he happens to be visiting us on the 24th. I can't say how excited I am to have found this deal!

Picked up 6 - KC HiLites Cyclones I'm thinking of 2 for hood lights and 4 for rock lights.

Also had my front KDSS bushings replaced by AK1 Motorsports in Rowland Heights.

And picked another Pelican 1650 for use when the fam goes on a road trip

Got tired of the magnetic cell phone mounts falling off. Got the Course Motorsports mount and modified to fit the Ram mount.

I ordered the mount and did it... great iPad dash mount.

Installed a China TRD Pro grille, from ProooAuto. I had to modify it quite a bit to make it fit. I first had to open up a slit for the sensors (I knew this going in) but the biggest pita was where the radiator bracket attached. The 2019 bracket is shorter than the 2020 so I had to dremel out the plate on the new grille that the bracket would sandwich to the outer grille. I didn't take pic, I suck at taking pictures while working on my cars. But the outcome is perfect.

Until UPS/FedEx delivers my next package(s)............. :lol:
