Any insight into the gas shocks? Are they really needed? Difficult to install?

Yes, you’ll need them eventually if you want your hatch to open fully and stay open. My OEM shocks wore out pretty fast (within a few months). Ordered some from amazon, and they were very easy to install.

Here you go, keep in mind they’re 9” wide rims too. If you go with these I’d plan on a mandatory body mount chop. Truck drives much better with these than the -10mm offset, I’m pretty tall so the wider stance seems to help a lot.

I had to up my cooler game and give it some offroad wheels.

I also made some ghetto trekpak for my drawers.

I didn’t do anything special except locate a popping sound in the dash. I had a friend sit in the passenger seat and we traced it to the passenger air vent. Sprayed some WD-40 in the cracks and the sound is gone for now.
