What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

These look great in black! I will be doing the same for my 2013 TE set next summer. Are those the OEM FJ center caps? I like the look of those a bit better.

Those caps are the ones from my 4Runner. The FJ ones are similar but don't have any black on them. I only have one of those. They are more of a flat grey vs the "chrome" look of the 4Runner hubcaps.

I've been very happy with the Auxbeam H11 I installed about 8 months ago. Great coverage and I think i've been flashed maybe 2-3 times total. I think I paid $55 off Amazon.

after 3 years the used 6112's i bought off another toyota guy finally failed. we put 40k miles on them, they came to me with i believe 20-30k miles and a lot of hard miles lol. 10/10 would recommend but now it's time for kingsssssssss. back end is already full kings with king bumps so i'm pretty stoked to go pick up the coilovers this week.

Picked a good time for those things to fail during BF deals :D

Do yourself a favor and put halogen bulbs back in.

So I can see worse at night and increase the possibility for an accident? No thanks.

However, I could look in to better halogens that will improve over stock, that's all I care about. I don't see the best at night.

You do what works for you man, don’t worry what others say.

I’ve had stock halogens, several LEDs and even HIDs in mine. The LEDs were all high end and left a lot to be desired as far as their distance, the HIDs were great but then I was having ballast issues and getting flashed.

I ended up doing the H9 conversion and have been very happy with the almost doubled light output for minimal effort. I’ve been flashed once and that was right after I got lifted and didn’t adjust them yet.

There is a member who responds with anti-LED posts EVERY time someone posts that they put LED's in. Its comical in the sense that I take personal bets on how long it will be until he comments when I see that someone put LED's in but its also very annoying.

I love my LED's. They work great for me and I do not plan to switch. This is your rig and its your decision.

Well said. Ignore the haters.

FWIW: I'm eyeing the Lasfit 4Runner-specific LED lowbeams. Hoping I've been good enough this year to get them for Christmas.

Ahh man. I had no idea Lasfit made LED lowbeams. I have their blinkers all around and love them. Curious to know if anyone here has installed the lowbeams.

Fair warning: At night when you unlock or lock your vehicle, don't look directly at the vehicle when you hit the fob. You will be blinded.

This... It gets me every time. Also, my LasFit LED Turn Signals have been in for 3 months, and I've had no issues with them.

Nobody's hating anything. I'm not anti-LED, I own and use several LED lights all over my truck. Take a look:

The ones up top (Diode Dynamics bar and Baja S2 ditch lights) are for offroad only. The ones on the front end are actually SAE compliant and street legal (fogs and driving lights by Diode Dynamics). Of course, the driving lights are legal only as auxiliary high beams, which means I don't use them with any opposing traffic. The big difference is that the optics and heat control of these lights are designed with LED light sources in mind. This is important.

In fact, I also used to have LED drop-in bulbs in my headlights (Morimoto 2.0 low beams, XD Xtreme high beams, and Philips fog bulbs). I took them out and went back to halogen bulbs because the actual performance and SAFETY of the LED bulbs was severely lacking. I now advocate people to do their research instead of spending dozens or even hundreds of dollars on unsafe junk. Yes, I'm lecturing you on your poor purchase decisions- because I also made those same poor decisions.

You're not arguing with me- you're arguing with science and research by engineers many times smarter than me. LED bulbs are junk because they increase brightness 20 feet in front of your truck and severely reduce your distance vision, which is what you actually need to drive at night safely.

And while I support everyone's decisions to mod their trucks the way they see fit, lighting is the ONE modification that directly impacts the safety of yourself, your family, and other drivers around you. If you can't see down the road properly (or worse, have poor glare control and are blinding other drivers), YOU ARE A HAZARD ON THE ROAD. I'm sorry, but I can't abide by that.

Reading and gaining knowledge are free, I suggest you capitalize on the opportunity. Or don't, and continue to be proud of ignorance.

Wow - dude removed the front bumper. I assume it can be done up through the wheel wells without too much effort instead, right?

You can definitely install these without removing the bumper... I did that just to show what all was back there (and because I forgot that you could reach up through the fender liner.

Yep. Like 007Tacoma said, you can remove some screws and reach up behind the fender liners to change turn signal and parking light bulbs. Just wear gloves and long sleeves, it’s kind of a long scraping reach. Search the site, others have described it in more detail.
