For a Pax that size.. yes, I see your point. Roof would be a huge PITA. Sometimes I just look at things from my work perspective (cop). I have the 2.5gal Fuelpax which I mount on the roof rack however i'd like to move it to a ladder mount if/when I purchase a ladder.

I have a hatch ladder, that I still need to install.
5th Gen 4Runner Ladder — GREENLANE OFF-ROAD

Plan is to use this mount for a 5 gallon U jug.
Single Utility Jug Rack for locking up 1 Utility Jug. Mounts offset to
leave room for your side crank style jack.

I have a bunch of steel surplus Jerry cans. They are heavy and unwieldy. Picked up 2 U Jugs at a local farm store to use with my riding mower and find they are superior to Jerry Cans. So much easier to lift / pour.

Used the stock roof rack to bring home pressure treated 2'X4'X8' and 10' PVC to finish a garden bed. Ratchet straps secure the load.

Replaced the bright blue LEDs in one of my custom buttons (Nav wire hack mod button) with Toyota OEM 4Runner "ice blue" LEDs which were harvested from some used buttons that I bought on eBay. Now that button matches the rest of the dashboard.

Bought some 2021s OEM LED headlights from [MENTION=643802]Nommpop[/MENTION] to replace the crappy halogens in my 2019. They were nicely packaged in Morimoto box ...

Took about 2 hours total to swap, though I could do it way faster the second time around - an hour to remove and replace the bumper cover, 30 to replace lights, 30 to screw around with aiming.

For aiming, I started by matching where the halogens were aimed from the port. They were fairly close to the same aim as the original halogens.

They throw a lot more light with much cleaner cutoff and stair-step.

The next day, I took them and did the 25-feet-from-wall-to-Toyota-specs adjustment. That required me to raise them about 1/2-1 inch.

(My truck has the typical 1/2-inch lean so the driver light is lower than the passenger light ... when setting up the line for the adjustment I drew the line in between the two measurements.)

We'll see if that's too high and if I need to adjust them down.

I threw in a S8 light bar in the grille at the same time since I already had everything apart. It's ridiculously bright.

Overall, super happy with the change. The lights work perfectly, they throw much more light and while cooler in color temperature are not "HID" or "Xenon" white - I'd guess more like 4k.

My wife has a limited, and I'm going to hit him up for a second pair.

What did you use to mount that S8 behind the upper grille? I jimmy-rigged my upper grille light bar and it just won't stay tight enough.. the bar ends up tilting upward. Frustrating as heck.
