My GMRS radio antenna uses about the same size/strength mount with a 3ft antenna on top. So i figured the same would be good. I believe they have a 55lb grip so they will be super solid.

I brought the 4R up to about 80mph on a not so well paved highway and they didn't budge even with all the potholes.

Greased all zerks(time for a better grease gun because mine is toast). I also added the scuba mod finally. I had to run to the auto parts store to get a better tube than what I ordered online because it cracked.

ouch. thats a crappy lesson to learn. Dealers NEVER wash/"detail" vehicles for me. "free wash after the service" means free swirl marks.

Sucks man good luck.

Get some money back or make them pay your detail guy every penny for not doing as requested.

My dealer picked up mine from out of state because there were none locally. Well, of course they ran it through their swirl machine before the trip to my dealer.
I instructed my salesman to either not wash it or wash it by hand. They actually washed it by hand.

Well, it had some minor swirls so after a couple of weeks it went in for paint correction and ceramic coating.

It never sees their automatic car wash when it goes in, PERIOD!

Fishing is something I haven't done in years, but the older I get the more interested I am in getting back into it. Might have to setup a way to carry a fly fishing road in the 4Runner somehow, so its always with me.

get a rod up for a pick up truck, and modify the brackets, or get the one with suction cups and stick to the back windows.

Got steelies for my mud tires today

I can't explain why, but steelies are one of my favourite looks on an off road vehicle. I wish the offset was a little bit more aggressive, but I don't think anything beats the rugged look of a steelie setup.

Right? I can't believe I scored 4 free spares from fellow 5th gen owners in my area. Here are a couple more shots that do a better job of showing the lateral position (offset) of the steelies (+ 1" spacers)

With those 1" spacers they look to be about perfect offset. They look incredibly close, or identical to my wheels with 0 offset. Thats a great setup, even more so when you scored the spares for free. I wish i'd thought of that. :bravo:

Drove from Wenatchee to Yakima to P/U my wife's "new" Rav 4. Ordered new tires, started switching stuff over from my FJ40 to MY 4Runner and setting it up (wife gave it to me and we got her the RAV). Ordered a brush guard and side rails for the RAV (She has a habit of bumping inanimate objects=she SAYS that they move in front of her!). This week, I'll get the brush guard installed and my Hella driving lights (I CANNOT break the bolts loose to mount the guard!). Will mount my Hi Lift, shovel & traction mats on the roof basket.

Ordered a 4Runners of WA sticker for the wife's RAV and a couple of Masonic stickers-one for each car.

Big weekend of mods finished up today. Starting Friday, I installed the 4x4Labs power steering cooler, CSF radiator, 270XP alternator, and SSO Slimline hybrid bumper. Also did the Big 3 cable upgrade along with the alternator using 0 gauge cables custom made by Powertrays. I installed a Baja Designs 20" S8 amber lightbar to the bumper and some nautical blue color matched D-ring shackles. No pictures yet until I give the truck a wash.

Installed the Midland MXT275 GMRS radio. Went with the hood mount and upgraded to the 3dB antenna.

Really tore into the dash for a clean install

I'm currently waiting on the Rago dash mount which will have the mic mount on it but until then, here's where it ended up.

How long does it take to set up that back tarp? I was looking at one of those for when the weather is off, but was worried about set up time (+ weight).

I want to say it was between 5-8 mins. It's not hard but you have to unpack it, clip it to the roof rails and tires, set up the poles, then use the tie downs and stake them in the ground.

Not a fast process but I don't want to spend the money for an awning that i'll use 5 times a year tops. Also, I replaced the poles that came with the kit to lightweight expandable tent poles; the ones that came with the kit were heavy and clumsy.
