What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Picked her up a week ago and snapped a few photos of her in stock form.the modding will start soon since, I just received a 3 inch lift from toytec and total chaos ucas. Still waiting for the new wheels and tires to arrive as well.

Its been a rough couple days for my truck...

Finally got around to taking off the running boards which happened to be hiding a ton of rust(mostly caused by the inept previous owner). Honestly, buying this truck has been like getting married and then later realizing that your wife has a ton of baggage. Sucks that my first vehicle ever was bought off a f***ing con artist.

And this morning my neighbor reversed into her and messed the bumper up some more

I will never give up on this truck though. Shes my baby.

Haha, yeah. My first vehicle man, I didn't know anything about cars before buying it. I've learnt so much from working on it, and now its time to learn how to do some body work and painting I guess haha

It's nuts that I haven't taken the running boards off earlier though.

Edit: If you were implying that the rust wasn't there when I bought it and that it was my fault, I'll explain why it was the PO's. The fender flares were removed at some point before I owned it and then reinstalled with a random assortment of screws(I never noticed...) which gave the rust a place to get started.

The shots were taken with a Canon 6d and canon 135mm f2 lens.

Replaced OEM fog light bulbs with 3900K PIAA Star bulbs.
Performed fog light mod to have them come on whenever I want.

Gave her a purdy new dent. By the way anybody had to get there tailgate replaced before and know a rough estimate?

Now I can turn on my fog lights on command.

Note: I did NOT have to remove the kick panel as the gray relay can be accessed easily. After cutting the green/black wire, I spliced a wire just short enough to reach one of the bolts that hold the OBDII port in place to ground it.

EDIT: By the way anyone reading this in the future, the FSM torque spec is wrong. It should be 13 ft/lb not 25 ft/lb. Use the Nm value for the lock nut.

Had fun spending 2 hours getting a stripped alternator adjuster bolt off. It's a tight spot and the nut has a washer base which the nut splitter didn't like.

Put 99 coils w bilstein 5100s and lower ball joints on the baby mommas ride today. All new Toyota OEM

Gonna hit some trails with some friends tomorrow, so I had to whip up a skid plate. I only had time to make an engine skid. Will add the trans and transfer skid later.

Had fun spending 2 hours getting a stripped alternator adjuster bolt off. It's a tight spot and the nut has a washer base which the nut splitter didn't like.

I had a similar issue last month. But I used a cut off wheel and it took 9 seconds. Good hand eye coordination and doing it from the bottom with skids off helped a ton.

That was my first impulse but i thought it might get debris on the belts.

3RZ valve adjustment started. Opened her up, measured clearances then measured shims where needed. Then put it all back together. Now to order new shims next week.

I checked it 4 years ago at 130,000km and all were in spec. but one exhaust was getting close. Now at 180,000 km that same valve is 0.001 tighter and is now a .010 and so now needs addressing. I'm actually going to adjust all the exhausts to the looser end of the spec.

In 50,000 km all exhaust valves are now .001 tighter than before, FYI.
