Ordered a remanufactured 1.8k Denso in the meantime.

when I get around to doing LED lights in the cluster, Ill switch out the glass

Don't be misled by the box though, it's not actual glass even though they call it "glass". Just clear plastic of some type – I'm guessing for safety.

Replaced the gauge cluster lens with a new one. I didn't realize how bad the old lens was until I compared it to the new lens. It's literally a night and day difference in clarity.

I seriously think some knucklehead detailer cleaned it aggressively with the cheapest towel.

To remove the dust that builds up on it without scratching it, just lightly wipe the lens with a plush damp microfiber towel.

Night and day difference!

Did the fuel filter but made the mistake of tightening the bracket before i fully tightened the fittings and it leaked like crazy so I had to do it again with out attaching the bracket until after, which fixed it. I think there might be a tiny tiny leak on the back one still. I wiped a paper towel in to the threads with my finger nail after driving around the block and could see a tiny bit of gas still coming out i think.

I replaced mine a while back as well. My truck is a 97 but I got the replacement from a later year 3rd gen (2000 I think) as the part is the same as the one for a 97 – but cheaper. IDK wtf either...

Really makes the truck feel new again though!

The problem is that I haven't done anything. The parts piles keeps getting bigger. Now overtaking a closet
-Finish rear drawer final touches.
-Finish rear window accessory rack mounts
-Install 6112s up front
-Install OME in the rear
-Extend diff breather tuning
-Bleed brakes
-install LCA bushings
-install steering rack bushing.
-CV boot stretch mod
-plumb trans cooler and wire fan.
-Install wheel spacers
-shop install of wheel bearing
-tire need rebalanced properly with road-force balancing
-re-alignment after lift.
All before an overlanding trip to the cape in a few weeks.
There's more parts I can't think of at the moment also.

Had a quick label and disconnect session last night to get ready for the knock sensor job this weekend. Took about 30 minutes to get stuff labeled, the air box out, and am ready to pull the upper intake....need to get a bucket today to drop coolant first.

Found a rust hole in the left sill with a screwdriver.

Pulled and repaired the starter. Out, repaired and back in in about an hour. I think I found the cheater method. All through the wheel well.

Also cleaned up my weather techs. Man, those were nasty. Next on the list is track down the oil leak. I know the valve cover gaskets need replaced, and I'm hoping what I'm seeing is the cam plugs running down the back of the motor and not a rear main. But man, laying under this thing, I got a winner even if it needs a rear seal. Had to have been a south west truck for most of it's life, even though it just came from Chicago.
