Plastidipped my wheels vintage gold and installed a bunch of trim pieces like the fender flares and roof rack that I repainted.

my take on air filters

I've had a K&N CAI for over 5 years and no issues with MAF.

I'll bet you oil it properly and don't over oil it.
The person from whom I purchased my truck def over oiled it. There was excess oil on the walls of the air intake tube and when I cleaned the MAF a suspiciously red looking something dripped off.
I had one on my motorcycle, my acura integra (fantastic car), and my outback and never experienced any noticeable benefit. Just my experience.
I was reading about air filters last year Air Filtration Test and came upon this: "both the cotton gauze type (K&N) and foam filters (Amsoil & Jackson Racing) showed the same levels of filtration. Both performed poorly compared to the fiberous or paper filters (Napa, Baldwin, and Mazda)." Also read from other sources about increased air flow via less filtration + burden of cleaning and re-oiling + cost of the cleaning and oiling kit from k&n.
All that effort and $ for more dirt in the induction system and the most nominal of performance gains, if any? Screw it. I've decided to stick with good old fashioned dry filters. Not criticizing those who use them, just opining about my thought process and conclusion.

You and I are on the same page. I typically just buy a wix at NAPA.

New shocks

I finally ordered new bilsteins for all 4 corners. Should be installed next week with the new coils. Can't wait to get my 02 off the ground a little more. Should be ready just in time for July 4th. Fun times ahead for sure!

6/24/14 Helped amalik install new trans cooler and do the trans fluid flush. Went smoothly. He purchased the same one as me, the tru cool 4544 with a 20,000 btu rating, but mine and his were different.
Discovered I was shipped the wrong cooler last June. I ordered a tru cool 4544, but turns out i got the 4454 which only has a 13,000 btu rating.
Let's see what kind of integrity the retailer has when I raise this issue with them tomorrow. If they are pricks I will point out that technically it is fraud, putting a lesser item in a pricier item's box. Should be interesting.

Follow up:
Spoke to Roger at Makco Transmission Parts first thing this morning. http://www.transmissioncoolers.us/category/tru-cool-thin.html. Texted him a couple of pics. Proper one is being shipped out today, should arrive tomorrow. The heaviest I got was "I'm kinda pissed right now. I've been running a significantly smaller cooler for a year."
He was reasonable. He was not defensive. He was apologetic. He had a record of my invoice in his system. He did not turn it into an ordeal by making me talk to his supervisor, then that person's supervisor, etc. It was a 5 minute conversation.
Mistakes happen. How someone rectifies that mistake is the substantive issue. He gave me no guff. He did not say "this is a warranty issue. We have a 30 day return policy. This is a year old, blah blah blah." None of that.
It was an easy simple smooth transaction which reinforces my decision to buy from a bricks and mortar business instead of trying to save $10-15 buying it on Amazon.
Gotta give 'em an A+.

Installed a new AC Clutch on my new-to-me AC Compressor. Hopefully install it tonight!

I had pulled the compressor off of my old compressor (still on the vehicle). That clutch bearing was SHOT!

as slapdappy stated, yesterday we installed a Tru-Cool 4544 20,000 BTU LPD (Low pressure) cooler on my truck with a Magnefine filter, as well as a 16-qt full flush (Regular ATF, not synthetic).

The day before, I did a drop of the pan, new gasket, and a new filter.

My transmission should be really happy this summer :thumb3:

It wasn't all fun and games... I had a stripped transmission bolt that I ended up re-threading with a bigger bolt and that was a very frustrating experience. Re-threading it was easy, but getting it out was a PITA. I also had a nightmare time with FIPG (Does that stand for Freaking Insane Pain Gasket? Wouldn't surprise me) and used a rubber gasket instead. To add to the fun, I didn't have an inch-pound torque wrench, so I rented one from the nearby Autozone. I don't know if I did something wrong, but I'm going to go ahead and blame the torque wrench. At 70 in/lbs, I broke off the first bolt head I tried, and had no choice but to just tighten the rest by hand until I get a different torque wrench.

I'd like to do a temperature gauge eventually as I have a 97 so I can't see transmission temperature with my Torque Pro/OBDII adapter.

Here are a just a few pics, didn't take many.

Today I:

Got sunburned figuring out that you really can't re-tension a 2000 4Runner's seat belts thanks to a few anti-tamper design implementations.

Discovered I had a broken Front right sway bar link, and removed said link so it wouldn't end up somewhere it shouldn't.

Removed and thoroughly cleaned my AC blower fan. (WHAT A HAZMAT ZONE)

Applied new material around the tips of cargo cover to keep them from rattling and squeaking. (Adhesive backed suede looks just like OEM)

Tightened up my cruise and throttle cables (HOLY CRAP THEY WERE LOOSE I FEEL LIKE I GAINED 15HORSES!)

Got 285's and same wheels with 3.75" back spacing instead of the 4.5 I had, because Discount Tire replaced the wheels for free. Though 285's just don't look as big as I thought they would compared to my 265's

And thought more about something I could do in an afternoon but am too lazy to do, because the last thing I want to do after a day of writing mobile apps at work is tackle another. I use Torque Pro but all I really care about is transmission and coolant temperature, granted once you can get any readings from the ECU (via bluetooth OBD II adapter) you can make a read out for basically anything provided. So that part's easy and I've already done it in the past with from scratch code.

What I really don't want to do is install a bunch of semi ghetto looking switches and run wire all over the car. Would much rather have a central RF relay board and Arduino in the sunglasses compartment, then wiring to the front for front and rock lights and wiring to the roof through the head liner, out the lift gate grommet, and wire loomed on to the rack. Then just use the phone already permanently on / permanent cheap fixture in the car (aka Android- Best Buy boost mobile/verizon prepaid burner phone) to communicate with the Arduino (already done that in other projects, easy) which then communicates with the RF relay board and tells whatever to switch on. Like $125 for complete control of whatever you want. Anyway, rambling. Some day when I take my first vacation in almost a year and a half.

I techniquely didn't do it today, it was a few days ago, but still. I think I can am ok to share what I just did to my4Runner, especially since it feels like I just got it done today. Lol.
2.5 lift (not enough, don't like it really)
17" Fuel Rims and 285/70/17 M/T Gladiators.
