What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I couldn't wait any longer, so I installed my antenna mount today. I'm going to be running a hatch mount rather the Drifter mount that I'm making. The mount is an OPEK Am 204 7SM. I'm using this mount with a Firestik medium duty spring, and a Firestik II 3' tunable antenna. It's mounted on the driver side and I routed the coax through watertight loom connecting the hatch to the body. I just need add some liquid tape to where the coax enters to loom to close it up.

Wire coming out on the inside of the cab. I had to remove the rear light, and pull the center section of trim off to access this area.

All mounted up.

Needed just a bit more light in the back. I added a couple Eagle Eye 3w LEDs to the back hatch along with a SPST LED rocket.I need to work on the wiring still but you get the idea. There isn't a lot of room to work with on the hatch. I had to make sure that each of the three holes wouldn't contact the hatch at all. There are three grommets behind the hatch trim. I popped those grommets out, and made sure the LEDs and rocker where situated directly in the center of those holes.

Painted my wheels satin black

last year I followed a suggestion to re-tap the threads for nominally larger metric m8- 1.25 x 25mm bolts. Toyota 4Runner Skid Plate Bolts.

Sweet thanks for the info. I sheared a bolt head on my Runner offroading and need to repair it. I also have two skid plate bolts that are stripped on my FJ and had no idea how to fix them. It's still under full warranty and I've considered taking it to Toyota since they changed the oil in it everytime before I bought it and found this problem when I did my first oil change. Thanks for the info!

Replaced my broken passenger side headlight with another one. Took the broken one a peeped it and reepoxyed the mount this time using a plastic/abs epoxy. Should take 24hrs to dry

I got around to extending my roof rack supports. I finally got the time/energy/parts together. Took me about 4 hours (most time was spent pulling and putting back the headliner). I gained 24" and allows me to better support my space box and skinny basket. I'm pumped. I still have to fix the fairing but that's net weekend.

I've been thinking of putting auxiliary lights on my hatch for a while now. That'll be my next project.

Please tell me this is how k&n's go into the 3.4.... this is how I found it when I checked today......

The only thing that sucks is the space you have to work with. There are a couple sheet panels that you can remove to gain some clearance if needed. I was able to use existing holes. Now I just need to run about a couple wires from the rear hatch light through the loom into the hatch.

I just found out that my air filter was installed backwards for who knows how long. I need to know how/if the cylinders are scored... if they are its going back to the dealer I can't put up with this.

In looking through the pics you posted, I could not help but notice the wet area behind the throttle body. I'd pull off the intake and see if there is oil in there.

Do a compression test. If it turns out OK, then I wouldn't sweat it too much and enjoy the new ride.

MTD sorry man didn't mean to get you wound up. i doubt that it's going to be a huge issue as your whole air box is still sealed and dirt would still have to make it around the filter element ,which theres not a lot of room for, if any .a quick peek in the air intake and throttle body intake should be a good indicator of how dirty things are .really i think your all right .i forgot to say in my post earlier nice ride !

Yeah... well i checked behind the filter and there was a little dirt, it just sucks to have spent 9 grand and then have the dealer you bought it from do something do stupid to go and spoil the whole deal... Im going to get it looked at and if its all ok I'll enjoy it lol,
