I started prepping my rockers for black Monsta and started mocking up where to cut the running board transition piece. I then decided I would like to minimize the amount of "liquid car begone" getting all over everything this winter. Enter some extra 1st gen Taco mudflaps I had sitting around. Two out of the three bolts line up. The "X" marks where I will drill and trim above the line. BTW my rig isn't built for wheeling it is strictly a DD.

Nice meats. What have you got there? Couldn't quite read the sidewall....look like Goodrich's. Do you like them. What do they run these days?

I changed the transfer case fluid with fresh 75w90 oil. I also tried to do the rear axle, however the PO mangled the fill bolt so I ordered a new one and will flush the fluid when it arrives. PB Blaster the night before is a must.
I also went to replace the upstream 02 sensor and the studs were so rusted, they snapped. Ended up getting the whole down-pipe out to drill out, tap and re-install M8x1.25 studs. However, 2 other studs on the header broke... I'll have to drill those out too and re-tap, all from under the car.

Added a 25" light bar (single row) to the front bumper. It fit perfectly with existing holes it the steel. Wired it to a rocker switch. Light bar, harness and switch all for under $100. Took about 2 hours to install.

Those are BFG Rugged Terrains. They're pretty good tires. I never got stuck when I had them, they don't do great in the rain because they aren't siped, they are almost like an M/T. Mine started to drone right around 48 mph too about halfway through their life. They wore well though and weren't a bad tire by any means. They have a pretty aggressive look to them.

Waiting for winter break to build my front bumper so ive been designing my rear bumper.
I'm not a fan of them to be honest. They are horrible in snow and I also experience drone but mine is worst around 42 MPH. Last week i picked up a little bit skinnier set of Cooper M+S for winter duty the Ruggeds aRe so bad. I don't think the Ruggeds could really be described as a mud tire except their lack of sipping. Before these tires I had three sets of BFG AT on my DD Tacomas. I did like the AT in the winter but they hydroplaned easy. I have found the Rugged Terrains do not hydroplane or at least not since I have owned them. How many miles did you get out of yours?

Snow isn't real common down here in Alabama so I can't give much of an opinion on that. I will say that they do spin easy in the rain though pulling out, easier than my BFG M/T's do now. That's what I meant is that they aren't siped which makes them spin like a mud tire does on wet surfaces. They don't have the bite that a real M/T has though.
I never hydroplaned in mine, but I drive slow and very cautiously in the rain.
I had about 30k on mine before I pulled them off and went with bigger tires and wheels. They still had 6-7mm of tread left at the time I believe. I was right on track to get the 50k out of them they are warrantied for.
I do prefer my BFG KM's over them though, they have a hum to them like all M/T tires but it's a constant hum that doesn't bother me, that droning drove me nuts...

Swapped my power steering pump. The book time was 1.5 hours. I took the pump off and put it back on 4 times in 4 hours. Did I beat the book?

Still working on the e-locker actuator.
No problems (yet!), just have other stuff to deal with too.
Got the crack in the cover for the gear jb welded
as well as the magnets.
Luckily I was able to tell where each magnet belonged by the glue residue on them versus the residue inside the housing.
Managed not to lose the 2 tiny springs or little metal balls
Regreased and put back together, plugged it in and it's working, will get it in the truck tomorrow so hopefully all will be good. Guess we'll see when we get there. Cross fingers!

Pulled a charcoal canister from a wrecking yard and even though it was a 97, the canister was slightly different than mine. The attached VSV was the same as mine though so I decided to swap them out first before messing with the donor canister.
I first tried testing both VSVs, but was unable to get either to do anything.
So I pulled my canister and looked for any cracks. Damn if I didn't find what looked to be a hairline crack too.
I had to bust out the Kragle on that bastard...
Got a tad bit crazy with it — but I figured more is better than less here. I just ran it all the way around in case I missed anything.
Swapped out the VSV and erased the CEL. Now I just need to wait for truck to run all its test. Sucks to have to wait so long though because I know it's going to take for ever to meet the EVAP readiness test.
I'm crossing my fingers though that I either swapped out a bad VSV or that I sealed the vacuum leak.
If the P0446 pops up again I guess I'll either swap the VSV again for the old one or just buy a new one and try again.

I'm still waiting to get my bearings and rear outer seals replaced from a local shop here in town... I'd rather wait and spend $50 and axle then $300 for Toyota to do it..

Went and played in the snow. I got voluntold to drive to the ski resort yesterday, which consisted of a recently opened highway that was closed because of snow. The 4Runner did great and the tires weren't terrible in the snow either.

Finally replaced my inner and outer tie rods that I've been sitting on for months. That was a pain between breaking a tool, doing the passenger side 3 times because I'm dumb, having to get different clamps because the Toyota ones suck, and finding a broken anti rattle clip on my TBU. Good news is it's done and I think I fixed my rattle...
