What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

The Napa Maxlife "new" not rebuilt seems to get the most positive reviews on here. That's what I'm running but I dont have enough miles on them to really comment.
Also the rebuilt OEM's seem to be good but pricey.

I checked on this at Napa yesterday when I was there looking for other parts.... They had them in stock but the box was labeled "Maxdrive" not Maxlife. These were new and only $79 each. Is there actually a "Maxlife" product line?

It's all good. I only really asked because in my research, I've heard about Napa "Maxlife" for the half shafts multiple times. That's what I even went into Napa and asked about and he looked at me weird. LOL

Spent almost 6 hours detailing this thing today. It had some really bad water spots from the previous owner.

First I washed it. Then I went over the whole thing with a clay bar. Then I hit it with a polishing compound from Meguiar's. Applied a glaze over the whole truck and topped it off with a nice caranuba wax. I did it all by hand this time, I may have to invest in a DA polisher haha. I think it came out pretty nice though. Let me know what you guys think! I've never done any detailing like this aside from just normal washing.

You did quite well there Brad. If you want to take your cleaning aptitude to another level, do invest in a dual action (D/A) polisher.

A handful of 5.5 inch pads (orange, white and maybe green) and the 5.5 inch backing plate, some pad cleaner, and some microfiber towels will make your 02 shine....

Thanks for the tips! How often do you polish/wax? Now that I've done the hard stuff, it's more a matter of maintaining it right? I was thinking from here I should be fine washing it and using some spray wax and re-wax every 6 months or so.

Haha yeah it was quite the workout, I definitely underestimated the amount of work it was actually going to be, but it was totally worth it. She feels smooth as glass now!

Not quite like a lightbulb. The wipers have the rain-x coating on them so the glass needs to be clean & run dry to put the coating on the glass.

Well shit, no wonder they still work fine — I already Rain-X my windows.

Built a platform for my trunk so I can strap down my tools and other stuff in the back. Got sick of chairs rolling around. Also bought some 3/4" conduit to build a roof rack. Might start on that tonight. Need to go mount my CB and tune my antenna this week too since my wiring for my amp and sub came in. I only want to tear the dash back apart once.

The dash is so easy tear apart though lol.
I've done it about a million times. I even hide valuables in there from time to time bahaha

It depends on just how lazy I am or am not. Some stuff (sealant or wax) can last up to six months. Environment is a big contributing factor. The key is to use a D/A machine to achieve a great looking base, then choose what topping of a wax or sealant to use.

A very good wax/sealant that isn't terribly expensive and can be found at Walmart, etc. Durability is 4 to 6 months based on my trial and error:

This stuff is a hybrid where it is a paint cleaner but also has carnuba wax properties and really does well with all Toyota and Honda paint:

Liquid Glass is the only polish I will ever use. Read some really good reviews and used it on my 71' Ford F100. It took sun faded red and made it look like it just came out of the paint booth.
Liquid Glass is a very old formula that is time tested and proven to last. Slightly expensive and tough to find. Amazon is your friend.

Thats the one I use with Chemicals Bros pads & Mothers polishes & waxes.

I dropped my AOR front plate bumper off to get powder coated. I should have back in my hot little hands between 1.5 to 2 weeks. Then things should be picking up for me.
