What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Looks awesome Shibby. I'm ordering some of those treadwrights myself. They look sharp.

So far so good on the wheels. They are are installed on D load rated Yokohomas AT's. From what I saw, one puncture repair but it was done properly. I really like the tire's look. I went with the added grip compound and hope to use them through winter. Otherwise I'll get some 32" snow tires on my other wheels.

They balanced out "ok". I figured the shop didn't static balance them, but they don't vibrate. The reason I say "ok" is because some took nearly 10 ounces, and others took less than 2. I told them weight on both sides and static balance, but they still put clips and stick-on's on the rear, and nothing on the outside. Not sure if that would have helped. I can't complain if i don't notice vibration and I don't have to stare at ugly weights.

The sound from the tires is very noticeable, but doesn't bother me. I somewhat like it. It's an aggressive tire, I wouldn't expect them to be quiet. At the same time it's not super loud.

Another thing I need to get is the slip yoke zerk fitted button head bolt. Apparently if the axle comes close to the tank skid it's taken off. For how often you have to grease the yoke it's not really an issue to take a bolt out and install Zerk fitting, and then replace. I'll pick it up when I get my button head and counter sunk bolts for the mud flaps.

I can't comment on the ride too much yet with only 30KM or so travel time. I'm fairly sensitive to changes, sounds, and feel while driving. I often notice things people don't. So far I find the Tundra 5100 and Tundra coils to be slightly firmer then my old front suspension. Better damping for sure, but firmer. The rear is strange. I notice the sway bar missing at speed for sure. I have made a mental note to avoid emergency maneuvers if at all possible, or be extra cautious if required. As for the springs, you can feel their softness. Over rough chatter it's pretty firm because I think the the valving on the Tokico's are made for a heavy LC. But hit a big bump and you can feel the rear end displace. Somewhat unevenly matched to the fronts (which are firmer, but fluid), then the rear being softer on hard hits, but similar on chatter. For a raised vehicle it is the best one I've drove in so far though. Normally raised vehicles have very negative results in ride quality. I haven't made my mind up if this is better or worse then a stock set-up, but it sure looks better, works well offroad, and fun to drive!

I need to weld the panhard bar and get an alignment Tuesday morning. Then it's off on a camping trip through B.C on back roads and whatever else I can find. Should be fun! I'll have pics then. Nobody likes to see city shots =)

Turned it on. Poor thing hasn't been driven in months. I don't use it as much any longer. but I like to know the fact that IF and When I need one, I can count on it being in the Garage. :girl:

T-belt, idler and tensioner pulleys, t-stat, water pump, cam and crank seals, valve cover gaskets, and an oil change. Whole job took 4 hours. When
I was younger at the dealer, i used to
Be able to knock these out in less than
2,5 hours....guess i'm gettin old. Now it's good till 300K...lol. One exhaust valve was a bit tight, .009". Not enough for me to care too much at 220K, so I left it alone.

Replaced the alternator. Rinsed out some mud that was coating my engine compartment and fried the stupid thing. Lesson learned...

Just got rid of my running boards as well! It took a little longer than I thought. But I like the way it looks:

i'll remove mine next... i'll have to get used to the new look sooner or later in preparation for the rock rails.... might as well make it sooner.. thanks for the encouragement.

Threw some awesome Kelly Safari TSR 265/75/16 on today. From what I was reading about them they will be a great tire! Quieter than the old Michelin LTX that were on it.

hey there!!
looks pretty good... tread looks pretty meaty too.. hope they are quiet for you, thats the same size tire i want to run shortly.. just in a duratrac on my stock runner.

Did the rear shocks yesterday, did the front today. Looks like I need to do the rear coils now. It looks pretty funny, seems like the front got lifted a little. Or is adding a spacer better?

Oh, and almost forgot...about a month ago, I got a new muffler welded on and for the last 2 or so weeks, I've had a rattle when hitting any sort of bump. I thought it was my tire carrier cause I'd been testing it out before the final paint job. Well, when I removed it for painting, I still had the rattle. So, I assumed it was the muffler and the weld job busted somewhere. I took it back to Meineke and had them look at it. Low and behold it was not the muffler, but the bushing on the top of my passenger rear ProComp shock. Turns out it split out and was trashed. I knew my driver's rear one was loose a couple weeks ago and I tightened that, but I"m slightly disappointed at the quality of the bushings that come with the ES9000 (I've had them for just over a year). Needless to say I had them replace both rears with poly bushings. $90 later, I'm rattle free and feel better about it. So, yeah...I did that today too. :crybaby:

Same thing happened to me when I replaced my stock shocks with Tokico's. Much better ride but now my front is higher than the rear.
