i guess i'd better do this route too.. they are supposed to have a textured paint that you can use on the rails...

I put some greasy shiny stull on my running boards one night and the lady i was going out with did a half gainer trying to get into the stock runner...

Got the rig detailed today! And hopefully fixed a leaking pass front axle before I leave Sunday on a 700 mile trip to Montana with the intention of using 4WD often! The truck is going to get destroyed out there, but at least it will be clean for the ride out:zoom::zoom:

Yeah, I followed your build thread and saw you did a fold-down. After seeing how much fab shops want for swing-outs and even how much CBI wants for their fully-loaded hitch mounted one (and don't even start on Hitchgate...bleh), I knew I could do better. I started with a tow bar that I picked up for $40 and went from there. It functions exactly as I wanted and doesn't rattle (or even move for that matter). We'll see how it holds up in the next few months. It's fully bolt-on and I can literally remove the whole thing in less than a minute. Yep, kinda proud of it. :reddance:

I will get a tire carrier build thread started here soon...got lots of pics.

Josh, how did you end up doing it? Did you just buy the strips from the hardware store or skateboard grip tape?

I'll tak pics tomorrow afternoon/evening. Bought some 3M tape from Amazon 2" wide, cut out around the cross braces. I think it was like $10 for 30feet.

What didn't I do today (and last night) is the better question.

'97: new plugs, wires and PCV valve last night. It developed a misfire yesterday. Went away briefly but back today. Going to swap the coil packs around and if that doesn't do it, injector time.

Today, got up by 6:00 am, washed it, steam cleaned the engine and waxed it.

'00: finished reinstalling the exhaust manifolds. What a pain in the ass that is. Also installed the lower intake manifold. Was going to throw the timing belt on too but it was getting late,MIT was super hot out and I was tired. So I said F it!

We got rid of my wife's 05 Pathfinder, it was such a piece of sh*t.

haha yea, I'm on my 3rd antenna now and I turned the radio on/off a few times and *SNAP*.....Breaks again lol. I'm sure the taco whip mod will be worth it. Pickin one up on monday

Transmission gauge installation

I finally received the gauge pod in the mail from the supplier, late last week, and installed everything yesterday. No real hitches-- love Toyota! I copied the installation from pdx650.
1. pulled pillar trim and fished 4conductor wire down to kick plate location under dash. Mounted gauge pod and gauge etc. to pillar trim and replaced.

2. Cut outflow transmission cooler line and installed sensor (prepared with wires attached) and fished wires through engine compartment to main wiring harness feed-through grommet adjacent to brake master cylinder.

3. Poked a punch through grommet with string, to pull wire through.

4. made wiring connections: using existing elocker ecu connector, I tapped into IGN (added inline fuse) and GND. Done.

Depending on my temp. data, I may end up installing a cooling fan on the transmission cooler (cheaper than replacing the rad) and installing my fan controller in the elocker ecu location, behind the left side kick plate (can be seen in pic). Time will tell!! Thanks again to pdx650!

Even though I suck for not taking any pics on my trip, I drove it to Sac. and back.. Saw a couple of 3rd gens along the way and saw a nice black one at
IN & OUT in Auburn, Sun. afternoon.
