I put my 2000 4R SR5 up for sale yesterday on Craigslist. Now I am trying to determine what to sell it for. See link below for the details.

Over the weekend I replaced rear drums and shoes (and hardware). I was going to replace the wheel cylinders, but they seemed OK. Now, I regret not doing it while I had everything apart. Oh well, at least now I know how to take everything apart quickly. I also disassembled the bell cranks and got those working again. They had both seized, making the parking brake useless.
I also tried to get the front calipers apart so add some anti-squeal to the pads. Couldn't get one of the caliper/pad pins out...so I said F it, and put a few dabs of anti-squeal on the pad retainers and called it good.
Then I bled the entire brake system. I thought it would result in a much-improved brake feel, but it didn't really. I think the front pads need to be replaced with some OEM-type ceramics, and the rears need to be adjusted tighter. We'll see.
It was just nice to be able to start and finish a project in one weekend (a few hours, over the course of two days). And I didn't break anything! That's a first.

Sold the 4Runner, the buyer got one heck of a deal
I asked my son last week if he wanted to buy the 4Runner since he uses it alot more than I do. He agreed then this happen....Dropped a P330 bank 2 code......knock sensor.
My wife mentions....that's our son your selling the 4Runner too......make sure it's running right.
With the pending sale in mind, and 180K on the ODO, I decided to take it a bit further than replacing the knock sensors. I decided to do a complete engine rebuild using all new original Toyota oem parts with one acception, the used stainless steel TRD headers. To enhance the S/C the heads and intake will be machined, ported, polished and special attention to the block.
Now having said that, the debate on buying a wrecked 4Runner with low mileage & doing an engine swap, rebuilt crate motor or the list goes on. All great options mostly driven by ones' budget. In our case, the decision to rebuild our own block was simple. We know what we have cause we built it.
Our unique circumstances are forunate that we have a shop access with all the tooling and machinery needed. Our hook up with OEM Toyota parts at a reduced cost further sweetens the deal. Not to mention a couple of Toyota trained master techs bellied up to the fender with beverages and food in hand overseeing the project. LOL
Working around other jobs we should be done in a couple of week. No rush though, it's a spectator sport with lawn chairs, coolers, food, a few tall stories and lots of laughs. Shop cave time........
But back to the "purchase contract" which will read per his mother....
"for the consideration of one dollar, paid for by your father, it's all your's son".
So........happy wife, happy life right!
