when i turn the wheel hard either to the right or left the Duratrac inside knobbies rub on the upper control arm... the pictures suck but you can see how close this is.. I was thinking spacers... but that might present a whole new issue..

the white grease is from your cv's , it's due to the lift you just threw on there, this is common and happens to everyone of us when we lift our trucks, best bet is to order some new cv boots repack with grease and do them up, that should fix your problem and keep those cv's running for years to come or until you snap one on the trail, other wise you can just buy new cv's and put them in there, they won;t be as good as stock and oem cv's are $$$.



as far as spacers are concerned the tire shop should have informed you of this so you could have the option of picking a rim with greater backspacing , you have now just spent all this money on some awesome rims and tires but now have to buy spacers for them, personally i'd be kind of pissed about this,
that said most of us have some sort of "minimal" rub as well, typically to avoid this you need to run a spacer over 1.5" , more back spacing or different upper a arms.... personally i'd see if the shop has the same rims with just a tad more backspacing and make them fix it, otherwise either call it good and live with it or get some really small spacers.

you have no idea how nervous i was about this.. i'm due to go away on vacation next week and i was wondering if i was going to be coming back to a broken truck or what... I have a appt at the dealer for another issue so i will have them take care of this as well... i am actually pretty relieved about this.. i thought i might have blown something.

The guy whom i bought the wheels from is a HS buddy of mine... I told him the situation and has already ordered another set of wheels for me. shud be here tuesday this will be an even swap. The worst part of it is that i have to sit and wait for them to re mount and spin balance. I believe the new set of wheels will actually sit out further than the current ones. I think what will happen is that he will mount up one of the fronts and we will test for clearance. I was not keen on using spacers anyhow.. this way i know it will be done properly.. a 2nd time.

- installed OEM roof rack (finally)
- replaced cracked passenger headlight
- overhauled rear brakes (new shoes + wheel cylinders)

I believe the truck is ready for a trip to Black Rock City (Vancouver, BC -> BRC, Nevada -> Vancouver, BC = 1600 miles).

After getting the lift installed 2 weeks ago.. i finally got my rubber n rims.. before you all gag at the site of whats left of my chrome bumpers.. breathe easy.... HD bumpers are in the works..

What lift setup and tire size is that?

Installed Bilstein 5100 shocks and Tundra TRD coils on the front. First notch, basically no lift from the stock '99 tall coils that I can ascertain. Maybe 1/2"? Fine by me, I just wanted new stuff in there! 168K on the stock stuff was plenty.

I also replaced the crap-tastic Ultimaxx brake pads with stock Toyota pads and shim kit. So far, MUCH better braking performance. I'm looking forward to having clean(er) front wheels again.

That's it for now. New brake drums are next on the list. I replaced them 2 weeks ago with really crappy ones that apparently came pre-bent for me. They are definitely out of round, as I get a major pulsation when pulling up on the e-brake underway. I'm done buying crap parts!

Thanks! I was very happy with how it turned out. Sad about the lost hubcap though I will eventually color match all the trim in graphite or possibly bedliner, and the bumpers will be painted with bedliner/eventually replaced with offroad units. Likely the Outdoor Logic or ARB model :thumb3:

We'll see how they look with the Duratracs, may be too wimpy and I'll have to break down and buy the Procomps.
