Brakes!

Finally got around to doing the front brakes on the 4Runner! Driver side gave me a hard time, as one of the pistons were seized..... but I got it free, and finally got it all buttoned up!



Passenger side went together nicely!



And of course... I had my little helper hanging out with me, when she got out of school today!

Had the leaky front output seals replaced on the transfer case. Yay no more puddles of gear oil on my driveway.

Scored a sweet yakima rack on CL for $20! Put it on and realized it makes a shite-ton of wind noise at hwy speed (i dont have a fairing) I think im gonna put the oem back on (3 of them for extended loadwarrior) but leave the slugs in the track so i can still use them over the factory rails if/as needed.

Eventually i want a third yak crossbar over the passenger door but im not sure how to match the height to the other two in the factory tracks.

Speaking of height, i REALLY dont like how high my extended loadwarrior sits on the yak rails. (Another reason im putting the oems back on, they sit a lil lower then the yaks). Makes a noticable difference with the roof rack.

what I did this past week

Changed out front rotors and Pads in my 1997 4wd 4cyl
Had mechanic replace drivers side rear wheel bearing
Today I painted front grill was faux chrome and grey - now Black

Thanks, man. This is a GM semi-gloss. I can get more specific info if you'd like. Didn't like the Toyota flat and the gloss was too shiny. Couple things I can tell ya. My buddy does professional auto paint at a dealership. We removed all plastic and he re-finished all of it. Some of it was pretty beat up. The little christmas tree clips have to come from Toyota. There's about 60 of them. $1.10 /ea for most of them, $2.50 for the larger rear ones (ouch). The hard rubber molding (actually called protectors) in black is about $100 for the 18 pieces (double ouch). We opted for a giant permanent sharpie marker on my original pieces. All in all, it was a lot more work than my buddy estimated. Let me know if I can help ya out -

Ordered some new tires!! Yup. Stepping up an inch to 285 70 17's!!!! Gonna be like a whole new truck!!!! I pick them up today and mount them tomorrow!!! Then find a place to test them Saturday.

Was driving along about 2 weeks ago and realized I'd heard a sort-of *doink doink* anytime I hit the slightest bump.

Turns out that *doink doink* was the sound of my right rear shock absorber, which had COMPLETELY broken off at the vehicle mount. LOL! So I replaced it with a set of Sensa-tracs.

Nice to know they can drive along for a week without a shock absorber, though.

Yes yes you can. Shocks control how a bump is absorbed and help prevent "bounce"

Picked up my hood from the shop. After repainting it twice to match the color it's still off. Going to wait till my brothers slow at work and drop the whole truck off to see if we can match it better , if not guess i'll blend into the fenders.
