What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

When you open up the coolant system again at a later time, rotate the T-stat jiggle valve to 5-6 o'clock, and the temps should then be reading in the low 190s.

whats the reasoning behind that?
its my understanding that its to let air out and help bleed the system.
at 12 o'clock it makes sense that the air would come out easy, but at 5-6 o'clock it would make it more difficult for air to come out.
Just trying to learn something not trying to be difficult.

I don't know the physical facts behind it, other than it lets cooled coolant into the engine quicker with the jiggle valve at the bottom, not at the top.

The hard facts I have is that when I replaced my T-stat five years ago, I also put the new one at noon, and immediately begin reading higher coolant temps. Put the jiggle valve back at 5 o'clock, and all was good.

Today I did some undercoating. Under all my fenders was mud and faded factory undercoating. So after a few bolts and some undercoating it looks factory new!

Actually, I took the axles out on Sunday, Got the bearings pressed Monday, did the seals and axles on Tuesday and the Brakes today.

i read that it was to let air pass through so the system will burp easier. i also read that some people cut it off to have the system run cooler all together, but they didnt state what position they put it at when cut off.

Well my brake parts came in last night, decided to wake up early around 9 to get the fronts done before I go to work at 5. Removing hard brake line from caliper, line breaks (f***ing rust) well let me go to auto zone and grab some brake lines.

alright got the caliper off, beat the living shit out of the disc to break it free (f***ing rust) Okay its off, now to get the pins out of the caliper, no matter what I tried it would not budge (Did I say I hate rust?)

I used Rustoleum undercoating from Home Depot.

The fenders were PITA to get off, and then lining them up when putting them back on was kind of hard too.

I'll get buttoned up shots soon. My iPhones camera is terrible at taking shots under fenders, it's exposure is terrible. I'll grab a real camera when I go wheeling tomorrow.
