I don't know. What I do know is that I'm pretty sure his butthole took a bite outta the seat.

Old. I got the 4runner at 120k. It's at 198k now and I've never changed them. I thought at first that it was the bearings so I bought a set and took the axel in to a shop to have it pressed. The guy at the shop said the bearings were fine. So I got an oil seal and when I was installing it saw that there was no O ring. I had a shop do the rear seals last July. I guess he forgot to reinstall the O ring. Not sure if that would have caused a seal failure or not. I'll keep an eye on it and see if the new seal and O ring have stopped the leak.

I think you should have the bearings done, especially at 200k on them. The shop guy might be wrong. Does he know 4runners?

Here's why I say that. I was told by my 4runner mechanic that the play in the older bearings allows the shaft to move around which wears out the seal early.

So by his logic, specifically on 4Runners, you need to the bearings and seals, at least if the bearings have say 100k on them.

He did acknowledge that the bearings will look fine and not make a howling sound. He said there is still a small enough amount of play on older bearings to make the failure happen.

Will do... should be a couple weeks until I receive my bumper from Savage... he already explained I may experience some frame oscillation extending to the tire swing out, so hopefully these mounts do the trick. FYI the stockers I can manipulate with my bare hands which tells me they're not designed to handle major deflection... Steve @ SS said he has yet to see any ill effects from these mounts

Finally put my "new" front bumper on. Tried this once before and couldn't figure out that the crash bar had to come off in order to fit the older ('96-'98) style bumper onto the newer (mine is a '00) 4runner.

Thanks to [MENTION=74071]Brilliant[/MENTION], however, I realized my error. My fender is still flared out a bit from where I hit the guard rail when rear-wheel drive (my stupid self didn't have 4wd engaged) met ice, but much better than what the front end has looked like for the past 3 months!

Finished up all my maintenance and knock sensor replacements. Did both knock sensors, pigtails, intake manifold gaskets(mine were going downhill fast), valve cover gaskets, valve cover paint, 170* thermostat, full coolant flush and all new Toyota Super Long Life Coolant, and new Bosch spark plug wires. Annnnnnddddd now I'm out of money. lol. Oh and BIG thanks to [MENTION=85423]Greg_Canada[/MENTION] for the help with paint/color choice and letting me bug him for advise. And heres the pics because come on, we are all pic whores.
