Replaced my OEM struts and shocks that had 133,000 miles in Wisconsin .
Gained 1.5 inches in the front, hardly any change in the rear, so I'm going to install 906 springs next.
Fronts were replaced with Monroe pre built ones. Rears shocks are also Monroe. $270 minus a $90 rebate =$180. Not bad.

Front was hard to get the 3rd top nut, so I ended up bending the wheel well back so I could get a socket on it. Stupidest design ever.
As you can see I used the twist from the shock method, while my brother held the ratchet on the top. Less than two hours for rear shocks.

Modded visors off a Ford Taurus to replace the old floppy 96 4Runner's.
Left- new, Right- old
The right side is clamped and drying right now.
Looks like you changed your front seats as well

Did that a little over 3 years ago. They're kinda blobby but much more comfortable than the worn out 4Runner seats."Went to junkyard, got seats out of a Mazda....older 323, I think. I wanted seats out of a 99 3rd gen (not bloody likely around here) or a Saab or something, but for $20 each and they're clean with no dried up blood on them these'll do for awhile. One is in so far, I'll try to take pics of the process of making the square peg a little less square on the next one. Big help from the hubby here. Don't laugh, I'm afraid of cut-off wheels."

Installed a new steering rack, tie rod ends, lowered front suspension via coil overs, and got an alignment. Drives soooooooooo much better !
Now I can actually feel that lil jigle in the steering column, might have to fix that sometime in the future but for now I'm stoked about how much better my suspension is
Side note: after all this I have 1 old rack in aaw u need a core and 1 new unused rack for sale.

Nice work, what rack did you go with and have for sale? I'm thinking mine is done and needs a replacement.
Is it a "strawberry milkshake" victim?
Isn't a 1996 the most complicated year to SC because of the computer?
