just bought my 99 Ltd and going through normal maint for an older car. K&N air filter and fuel inj cleaner to start. Already running better.

Then I read more maint tips. Next week, maybe Sea Foam, then fuel filter...

Washed it, drove it, ordered a new alarm fob, starting sourcing parts needed for repairs and upgrades, downloaded the repair manual, and starting sniffing out 4x4 roads around my neck of the woods to test out the new tires once they are on. Damn obsessions...

Picked my rig up from the body shop. T4R 1, Lexus GS300 0. The front end looks brand new again! Well... I guess that is because it is! Just glad her insurance paid and didn't total it!

Changed out the last of my original Densos and went camping; fuel mileage was almost 23mpg which is great considering HP zapping altitude and a lot of elevation changes.

Now that you mentioned it... I had a similar experience with the drain plug on the rear diff, and the front diff. If I remember, I had to hold my breaker bar and use my foot! Whoever did them last definitely seemed to have gone over the torque spec. The rear and transfer case don't need any pump, but the front definitely does. I had a way harder time with a pump than without for rear and transfer case.

Which bushings did you purchase for the swaybars?

Prothane 18-1116 for the rear (perfect fit, 10 minute install for both sides)

Energy 9.5161G for the front... not so nice, didn't know I needed new hardware. Still can't find the right bolts in grade 8 locally so I might have to disconnect bar for Moab trip this upcoming weekend, including the 5 hour drive each way... or run grade ? home depot bolts on the road and disconnect it for the weekend to prevent em from snapping. Unfortunately, that's probably what I'll end up doing.

Also the front bar is all messed up and the bushing won't fit over properly on the passenger side (only side I tried)... not rusted, just lumpy or something. Definitely correct size as it fits like a glove everywhere else on the bar (26mm)

And what did I do to the 4runner today? Nothing, because of that freaking sway bar hah. Sat in the driveway with all my tools under it. Drove the tacoma which has 4 wheels/tires strapped in the back, then loaded another 500 lbs of crap trying to move completely out of my old apartment. Had over a month to move stuff to new place and figures I'm down to the last 24 hrs now.

I did the 'drill and tension/roll pin' variation. Def improvement. I had minimal slop yet this made it slop-less, tight and right. Highly recommend.

Most do the 'tack weld.'

It is what happens when you start mixing water with grease. The gear fluid in your duffs will turn silver/grey when it is contaminated with water

Ebay. I paid $35 for a clean used one. I will know how well it works on Friday when it gets here.

Just spent $830 ordering new tires. Goodyear Wrangler Adventures. No hating please. I know these aren't really off road tires but for my stock 4R they are suited for how I will be using them just fine.

Looks great, I would like to do a some lights back there as well. Just looks like a vulnerable location for a steep departure angle or dropping off a small ledge.

They definitely look plenty bright for reverse lights - I like it.

Drove to Des Moines over Memorial Day weekend and had Toyota (brother works there) replace the rear passenger axle seal and driver side inner tie rod end. The tech forgot(?) to replace/repack the wheel bearing on the axle and the shop didn't have any tie rod bellows on hand, so those will be taken care of in October when I'm back in that neck of the woods.

Still have cat-back exhaust, shocks, and timing belt to contend with, but those all require cash that I've not yet acquired.

18ish MPG on the trip out/back. Old shocks are horrible on the freeway.

Made the call to CBI to set up my order for a rear bumper with swingout. Nathan was great to work with and answered about a million questions. From what I've seen they do outstanding work and I can't wait to see it in person.
