First Work

Just did my first work on my runner (or any car). Put new shocks and coils all the way around in my rig. Finally got rid of my rear end sag.

4runner got a new toy today. Tepui Kukenam RTT. Trucks too small inside to open it, Time to take it back! jk. Waiting patiently for my Whitson 3/4 rack now... Stoked

Definitely post up some more pics once you get all of that worked out and installed. I am a big fan of Tepui tents. I want to get one bad. Would love to hear your opinion and such on it now that you own one.

Installed a custom/homemade intake tube yesterday, today I am finishing up my cb/ashtray mod, and tonight im replacing my driver-side cv axle.

Got most of my lift parts in today. Also scored a first gen roll bar at the yards. Waiting for shocks and it's on like Donkey Kong.

Fixed an annoying rattle from the tailgate with a few washers on the rubber bumpers. The tailgate now slams shut with a very satisfying solid thud sound. Pretty minor but makes me very happy.

Dammit, I wasn't ready for that, haven't done my research on parts yet, but I do want to do hid. I've already picked up a driver side 99+ headlight at the junkyard, still looking for the passenger side. What parts do I need from them for a proper kit Brian?

Installed a new Diehard Platinum 34M battery. Old one wasn't bad, but it was a Toyota replacement that was 3 years old, and only had 530 CCA, 90 RC. The 34M has 880 CCA, 135 RC. Had to lengthen positive lead about 4". I like having the 2nd connection stud so I can hook up the winch to that when I need it and don't have an unfused cable to the winch hot all the time (in case of cable chafing).

Did a pretty horrendous bondo job to fill cover up my rust holes.

What can I say, it was my first time using bondo.

Then I plasti-dipped my fenders and both bumpers. Came out better than the bondo!

You can get replacement bumpers off E-Bay for cheap. I did my rears as soon as the rust started coming through.

Pulled out my interior today to install the new carpet my old lady bought me for my birthday. I'm going a little darker than the stock tan to hide stains better.

Bought the 'runner a set of 2009 FJ Cruiser offroad package 16" 5spoke alloy wheels with matching spare for a killer price. They came with 3 33" toyos and a 32" bfg. Kind of funny. Maybe i can get a few bucks for the tires as i don't need 33s. These wheels remind me of an updated 80 series LC wheel. Very slick.

Also had a chance to check out the current state of my fuel economy on the highway after a lot of recent maintenance. 3.4L, 267/75/16, no lift. I drove 259 miles and I used 11.55 gallons of gas equaling 22.42 mpgs! Speeds mostly under 70 the whole way and a light foot. I'm pretty happy about the numbers. I think the 300 mile tank could be a reality for me someday!

Also just ordered new spark plug wires (denso), fuel filter, and o2 sensor. Routine maintenance is almost up to speed and then it's time for more Mods!

Not many people running a bed cage. Curious how you're setting it up shock wise. 12-16" 2.5 remote reservoir shock? Bypass? Coilovers (that would be cool!)?

Also, what welder are you using?
