Replaced the water pump, timing belt, both idlers, and the tensioner. Note evidence of the requisite water pump leak. This is apparently the first timing belt job since new, at 140,000 miles. Glad to be done with it!

programmed new fobs

i lost the only set of keys i had to my 2000 4runner while taking a ride on my 2011 yamaha vmax so i had to get keys made and new fobs ordered.(ebay 37 bucks for two of them.) they came in the mail today and i taught them to arm/disarm my car alarm system.... overall a good day

Replaced the lower ball joints and 1 outer tie rod. The second outer tie rod is mangled and won't come off.....

replaced the rear output shaft seal on my transfer case. hopefully it doesnt leak now.

That bumper is beautiful. I like it better than mine... looks lighter as well.
I always wanted to know what the belt on my runner looks like. The water pump and timing belt will be the next big job on my truck.... I envy you guys who have the tech Know-How,the tools,space and most important good friends you can call to assist you when it's time to work on your passion..
Most of my buddies- the few i have left are on the golf course or under the watchful eye of their wives.

What did you do to your 3rd gen today?

This weekend I accomplished:

1.) Replacing my busted power antenna with a $13 universal one.

2.) Fixed my clock (previous owner left it unplugged for some reason).

3.) Changed my oil. Used Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w-30. I replace the oversized oil filter every other change, so that will get replaced next oil change.

4.) Drained and refilled my trans fluid. 4 quarts came out, so that's what I put back in. 3 quarts of Dex III and 1 Dex VI that I had laying around.

5.) Changed the rear hatch lift supports with some that I scored at a junkyard.

6.) Greased my u-joints and drive shaft.

7.) Installed an interference harness on my headlights. My Lifetime LED headlights were causing interference in my radio. The manufacturer sent me an interference harness which took care of the problem.

8.) Performed the "Independent use of Fog Light Mod" as described here:

Changed my lift

hello 3rd gen 4runners installed OME 881 and 891 with bilstein 5100 and 5125...coil spacers ran rough now it runs like a champ... sorry did not clean truck wanted to run all the hills over.

Did the 205,000 mile timing belt, water pump & tensioners. Replaced the belts & radiator hoses. Then I got to do the fun part...repairing the oil pan where after the previous owner took it to Jiffy Lube and stripped the drain plug. Nothing a Time-Sert wouldn't fix, but an unneeded repair if the job was done correctly! Don't go to Jiffy Lube kids!!!
Tomorrow the storage box gets built. I'll have pics for that one!

I will have to look at #5 Soon Too. I might also look into installing them for the hood.. beats using that single support.

Replaced the lbj's with o.e. parts. Also tackled both inner and outer tie rod ends while i had it ripped apart.

Next on the list:

Molding around windshield and weatherstripping around the inside of the drivers door. Gotta prepare for that cold michigan weather moving in.......
