What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Installed a set of OME 890s, when I was done something wasn't right. After a few minutes research I found out they are side specific and my 50% chance of getting them right was a loser. Had to do the job all over again.

How bad was that job? I have to switch mine around too. Noticed side B was on the drivers side! Ugh!

Started spraying the suspension bolts and nuts preparing for the lift installation. Check cam bolts made sure it wasnt seize; just waiting on eibach coil and CA bushings.
Have upper/lower ball joint, control arm bushings, panhard adj bar, tundra 5100, lc7, oem lc shocks, 2nd gen t4r rear sway links and extended cv axle boots. Am I missing anything? Im going without a diff drop for now.

I replace my upstream oxygen sensor today not bad at all trying to get the bolts loose and the plug of the oxygen sensor was not bad after all, i remove the 10mm bolt from the braket that hold the oxygen sensor plug that way i could have more room to unplug it. Hoping to see way better mpgss!!!!. On the other end it hurts when i had to pay $174.50 from the dealership.View attachment 180830

Since my stock headlights are not doing the trick(can't get them adjusted right)
I added some of the Rigid SAE fogs to supplement forward lighting. Made small tabs to bring the mounting location inboard about 2". These things made quite a difference.

Heading down to the shop for a timing belt, water pump, and new seals job on the new/used engine I'm dropping in. It'll be nice to do all the work while the engine is on a stand for once. With a freshened up 100k engine and a new clutch kit and flywheel, I'm hoping to drive this thing until the wheels fall off.

I look at other cars on the road all the time. I just say to myself, "rather have a third gen 4runner..."

Got my fender flare elbows trimmed down and installed, 1st gen Taco mud flaps installed for winter duty and new snow tires mounted a Taco wheels installed.

Got over 300 miles to a tank on my ride home.

Just calc'd my fuel mileage for the fourth time - an honest 20mpg in combined 80/20 highway/secondary road driving. Not bad for a '99 with 184k on the odo...

The wife said my truck is dirty and boring because it's just plain white. So I slapped some color on it today. Now it's all fancied up and blue! Not sure I like it though with all that bling — but it does look like a brand new truck under there amiright?.....



On a more serious note, the PO never did much maintenance...ever. I think this may actually be 384,000 miles worth of shit on my throttle body. I didn't have any cleaner at the time, so I'll be back to that soon....though I'm wondering if the gunk is actually holding it together.



And lastly, aside from the PO having the wrong plugs in there, I noticed one plug on cylinder 4 was pretty nasty looking. Anyone care to guess as to the cause of this fouling?

Looks like oil to me and seeing how the washer is gunked up, looks like it's been leaking. Is the spark plug tube caked in oil? If yes you're also due for new valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube gaskets. Might as well do the PCV valve too.

No the tube was fine from what I could see. Though my valve covers do leak a bit.

As I think back on things now, I noticed a vacume line on the backside of the air intake that has some oil-ish crap where it connected to the intake tube. I'm guessing it's connected.

I changed the PCV out with an OEM one about 10k ago. It still had the original in it at 370k.

MAF Sensor, O2 sensors, and Fuel Filter

Took a couple of hours to replace the fuel Filter, both O2 Sensors and the MAF sensor.

For those new guys that need a "how-to" I did one on the MAF Sensor. I put it in my build thread. I'll add the FSM extract later on.

3rd gen (2000) anti theft system issue

HI! I am not sure how this forum thing works so I just picked a post to ask a few questions on.
I have the 2000 SR5 Limited 4Runner
It has the "engine immobilizer + anti theft system" in it.
For the past week, my alarm goes off for no reason. It can be 5 minutes to an hour apart.
I already changed the battery in my clicker and the battery in the engine compartment seems fine, terminals are tight, checked all my fuses and those seem fine as well.

Any ideas on why this thing keeps going off?
