What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Drove it home from my buddies house. It's a 99 Limited that I bought for cheap a few weeks ago with transmission issues. It wouldn't hardly pull itself and after a minute, it wouldn't pull at all. :ballchain: It had codes for 2 of the 3 solenoids in the transmission so I figured it was worth a couple hundred dollar gamble so I ordered solenoids and a filter kit for it. Picked up some more fluid and went over today to fool with it some. The filter had a skim over it (not sure what it was, wasn't pretty though. The bottom of the pan had a coating of the same crapon it. Changed the solenoids and cleaned it all up good. Drove it down the driveway a couple times without any problems so then we took it on a short trip down the road. No issues at all. Shifts like a champ. So, might as well drive it home ( maybe 20 miles ) and had no issues at all. I am one happy camper!

My Wife did the "Back up into an '04 Suburban in a parking lot" mod on her '00.

I massaged it and was able to get it pretty straight. Luckily I had some spare tail lights on hand.

Similar experience except the suburban was moving and I wasn't. I need to remove the inside rear panel and give mine a massage too.

How in the hell did she not see a suburban when backing up?

The Suburban was moving as well. She looked right/left and all was clear, so she backed up. The guy pulled behind her from the right after she'd checked that side and they clipped each other.

Finally got the 880/906 lift dialed in. I raised the ring on the Tundra 5100's to the second notch, put a 1/4" top hat spacer on driver front and a 10mm trim packer on each of the rears. I think it looks about right now.

Drove it to work to watch it hit the 111,111 mark.

You can always try the hot cold trick with Co2 and hot air

I went a little crazy the other night with the tire grooving/siping tool on my BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM's 255/75/17.

I have been driving in a winter/snowy climate for a lot of years so I feel VERY comfortable driving in any conditions, but these tires on my '98 have been a sketchy combo. I've been feeling the back end walk out on me at even low to moderate speeds (in 2wd) on the highway so I felt that I needed to do something.

I got a GREAT deal on the tires. 1 brand new spare and 4 with under 1k miles for $500 and I couldn't pass it up.

I guess we'll see what happens once we get a little more snow.

This is just showing the grooving, I'll upload a picture of the siping once they open up a bit.

Well, a quick update. Now that that sipes have opened up a bit, there is a VERY noticeable difference in stopping and starting. I'm still having some issues with lateral traction so I may add some more sipes on the outer lugs at some point.

How does one remove the lower valance? I haven't seen this done, and it looks great. I am sure I can figure it out once i am home. Sitting at work right now.

6 or 8 screws. Pretty easy. I had to Sawzall mine, all rusted and broke off. I put some metal mesh from the back of the leds and tucked in behind the skid plate and painted black to keep junk out of the rad

Having fun tearing down a bent and broken antenna motor, gonna steal some of the guts to replace some of the worn stuff, especially the biggest gear, on mine.

Interestingly (to me), the housing that contains the 2 magnets can be put on in either direction which makes me recall a post some time ago about an antenna that would go up when supposed to go down and vice versa after being taken apart. I'm not sure if I'm curious enough to see if I can make that happen by simply reversing the housing (there is a ground on one side only), but I kind of am.

My hubby would prolly tell me it's gonna catch fire.

I removed the chrome rubber fender strips on the truck. So much dirt and mud were trapped in there...Glad I removed them, truck looks a lot cleaner without them too.
