Did my VC gaskets a while back and there was absolutely no hint of sludge or any build up at all. Run the cheapest synthetic through it forever and it will look even more pristine! Just my 2cents CDN though

Breaking in Front and Rear Differentials
Finished Breaking in New Gears as required by ECGS (see attached) with 572 miles on them
The front diff was still pretty clean looking. The rear diff was a bit discolored, but not as dark as I anticipated.
FWIW - You can use any brand gear oil including Lucas 85-140 which is what I originally used for the break-in. You can also use Toyota OEM 00289-75140 Synthetic Hypoid API GL-5 75W-140 Gear Lube. (I'm sure there's a thread on here in regards to the type of gear lube everyone uses.)
For the next year I plan on running the recommended weight unless I do some seriously hard wheeling, in which case I'll swap it out for the 85-140.

- Drained and Refilled Rear Diff - 3qts 80-90W
- Drained and Refilled Front Diff 2qts 75-90W

Well found a ripped cv the other day and realized that the other side was about to go soon too so i decided to buy two new cv with lifetime warranty and then keep the others as a spare. First side went smooth but after completing the first i did the second side in 5 mins tops and even adjusted my coilover.

It was already busted up when I pulled the plenum, and brittle as all get-out so it's pretty much non-existent currently.
Somebody mentioned using rescue tape from Bass Pro (wish I could remember who so credit and thanks could be given) and that looks like my best option so far. I have not looked into whether that part is available without the wiring yet.
Of course, I am always open to ideas!

Been busy lately:
- dual battery setup & 1000w xantrex inverter installed
- rerouted aux fuse box to cabin
- replaced old wiring & did big 3 mod
- cs144 alternator installed
- picked up roof rack from powder coater and installed
- mounted 1X 2 gallon & 1X 3 gallon gas rotopax, 1X 2 gallon potable water rotopax, hi lift, and spare tire to roof rack.
Just need to finish my transmission cooler install, get my tires balanced & rotated, get an alignment somewhere other than firestone (they just cant get it right) & then i'll be ready for Rock Therapy in Moab!

Big upgrades today, New BFG KO2 285's, (had the stock 225's on there before) New Power steering rack, (old one was leaky) and new Toytec / Bilstein 3lift kit.(oem suspension was shot, not sure its ever been changed in 300k miles)
All this stuff is in addition to what we did 2 months ago which was ...
2x ball joints
2x Control arms
2x Brake calipers
1x Axle seal
1x Axle shaft
Tie rod ends
3x Cam adjusters
Brake fluid
We paid $3500 for the car and to date put an extra $6000 into it.

Cleaned my engine bay. I've used Kaboom foam tastic for my weather tech floor mats for a while now because it works amazing and smells good, but I decided to give it a try on my engine bay because it's not nearly as harsh as engine cleaner/degreaser. My engine wasn't too dirty but the kaboom seemed to work really well. Also works pretty good for cleaning muddy tires if you combo it with a brush. Better than tire cleaner at least.

Started applying Por15 degreaser, metal prep & Rust Preventive Coat (por15canada.com) to my rocker & wheel body panels (under the trim). Some really good stuff, now to finish the frame and undercarriage. Worked hard on the prep......time consuming. Now I got to find a good topcoat.

I've never had a good experience at Firestone. They broke my tie rods when I took mine to get an alignment. Got them replaced and still wasn't really aligned.

OK, here's the final cut of the TRD Cat Back Exhaust with the 4.88's installed.
I tried to capture the following various highway/road driving conditions;
The final segment of the video is my long drive home up the mountain. This is where the new gears really shine. With the 4.10's I had to turn the OD off and the ECT on. With any kind of load I had to drop it into 2nd. This is where my mpg's take a killing. My wife is looking to get off the mountain but I just can't give up my view.
For you PNW residents you'll recognize a lot of the scenery.
