My '99 SR5 4WD
After owning a '90 I bought used and driving it for many years and selling it (due to daily driving 25 miles each way to work in bumper to bumper traffic w/5SP), I bought a used '99 in Dec 2015 with 166K miles. Car fax showed minor fender bender accident but being a California rust-free truck and being in great shape I bought it. 4WD auto but no locker. I spent about $2000 doing "fixes" to get it in better condition to meet my standards. I did a full tuneup with new plug wires, two O2 sensors, valve cover gaskets, rear cam seal gaskets, PVC valve changed, throttle body and mass air sensor cleaned, new radiator, new tires, new left axle assembly (due to leaking CV boot), new upper and lower ball joints for left and right sides, all differential fluids replaced and a few other items. It is solid and drives like new. I call it Thomas The Tank the beater. I try to run it in 4WD mode often to keep the front diff and axle lubed. Very happy with the truck and it's a great 2nd car.
