What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Got tired of my liftgate sagging and not staying up so i replaced the factory hydraulic tailgate lifts with a pair of Strong Arm #6815 from Lift Supports Depot off Amazon. Best $44 I spent all day. Then I found a 1/2" x .328" nylon bushing at the hardwar store (OSH near me) to replace the two upper bushings. Cut it in half and it fit like a champ!

Yeah. Your gonna need to elaborate. Ive got about 95% of the parts sitting in my closet and about 0%of the time to install them.

Packed up the truck and drove out to Los Angeles, CA. At one point I averaged 21.18mpg cruising at 70 mph with AC on. 494 miles from Sedona to LA.

Replaced my OME 890s with 891s, OME Nitros with Icon v2, added Lotus skids. The rear seems softer, but I only got about 1/2" additional lift (I was hoping for a bit more as I'm trying to get my back end leveled when I have my RTT on)

What is the ride like with a stiff spring and soft shock? Very curious, I've been thinking about this same set up..

Pulled the old bumper, cleaning up and getting ready for the new.



Ground off some surface rust and hit everything bare with POR-15, as well as a bunch of stuff that wasn't. I'm just super happy with how little rust I found. Western Washington, you may go all bonkers when it snows, but thank you for not using road salt.

Haven't done any off roading yet, probably won't have a real opinion until I get on some washboards. Honestly I was expecting a noticeable difference between the 890 and 891, but they feel pretty similar. I do notice the difference between the OME and Icon shock, Icon feel pretty cush so far.

Washed all the sanding dust off. Degreased again. Tacked. Degreased. Tacked.

Was getting ready to mix the paint and activator and noticed my activator is for 70* and below. So I guess I'll be doing it bright and early tomorrow as it's approaching 80 in my garage right now.

Word to the wise for anyone painting their own car for the 1st time:

Prep work sucks on these things. Taping sucks on these things.

Should have gone the bedliner route so I wouldn't have spent so much time prepping or worrying over how it will all go down...

I dropped it off for a full machine polish and have ceramic sealant applied..

I had the upper control arm bushings replaced.

Now it doesn't shake any more. :thumb:

replaced steering rack guide parts....helped a little but still have a mystery clunk i can't figure out! Also, found a tensioner for my alternator and threw it on.

They're right where you left them. You'd think with all the DD Runners out there we'd be the ones with the easy job of matching paint.

I washed it and added a Toyota bug deflector
