What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

How deep is that gauge? Do you think it would mount down on the shifter bezel like a lot of guys do with the analog gauges?

It's a typical 52mm diameter gauge, as for the depth... I THINK it would fit. I remember other threads saying some wiring or plugs would need to be moved for gauges, but this would be very close. I never did measure the depth. If I had the $$$ I would get the 4 gauge system and do two for tranny temps, and two for coolant temps (before and after the radiator).

Those are made to go into the vent space of an Audi or a BMW if I remember right. But we know how to modify things, don't we..... :jump:

Nothing too exciting...

Had my tires rotated and new Nitto Grapplers M/T on my sequoia wheels. Getting ready for winter. I wanted Toyo M/T but for a 100 more each tire I just couldn't justify the additional expense. We'll see how the gunmetal goes with the Jade and black.

this is mine, i did the hitch flip so it would be higher


got this for about $30 online.


then got the one on the left. i regret not getting the one on the right, i dont like how it angles so much. it cost about $75 online. the one on the right costs about $100 on line. i cut the side bar that goes into the hitch and drilled a to mount it. i then put a 1 inch spacer and bolted my spare onto that.

Nothing so far. Still trying to figure it out. Sad to say I'm riding dirty right now lol it's weird I've had cops and sheriff behind me and I haven't been pulled over.....yet haha

You really can't beat free parts

There's this place in New Orleans that has had a 4runner parked in it's yard for the last 3 or 4 years and I pass by it almost every day. A few weeks ago I stopped in and took a look at it. It's a '97 Limited 2wd, but it still has parts on it that I wanted.

So anyway, I call the place about a month ago and the lady says "Oh, Bob would probably know more about it so call him." I call Bob and he says "Oh, my son would know who's car that is, call him." So I call Bob's son and shoot him a text but never hear back from him.

Yesterday, at 2 o'clock before a holiday weekend, Bob's son calls me back and says "Hey man, I'm getting that 4runner towed away on Monday so if you want anything from it, have at it."

Cue me dropping everything else and tearing that thing apart yesterday afternoon!

Got the grill, roof rack, grab handles, dome lights, hood latch mechanism, and a bunch of other little odds and ends. The only thing I haven't got from it are the doors which I think I'll go back today and take them off for a potential set of half doors down the road.

Thanks but hey, sorry [MENTION=133521]markymark191[/MENTION] no plans to ever sell it. I have 15yrs worth of wonderful memories in this beautiful rig. It goes to one of my boys when I move into something else.

Started pulling exhaust studs on the new motor, while mindlessness contemplating life, I noticed that two exhaust lifters(are they lifters or just shims? we're sitting a half inch below the cam. Took a look at the other bank and it was the same way. Pulling the heads tomorrow.

Anyone recommend a place that will put the nitride finish coating on titanium valves?

Since it's multiple valves, I am eliminating them being bent. Since the motor sat so long, going with rust. Heading out the door now to pick up a second set of heads, just in case...

I routed the auxiliary transmission cooler hoses. I've had the cooler mounted for a little while.

I drilled two holes in the radiator support and used grommets to protect the hoses.

The install looks almost factory.

New Denso rad, OEM thermostat set w/ jiggle valve at 6 o'clock, Toyota red coolant, new OEM hoses, ran white vinegar x2, then distilled water x4, parking on incline every time (to get the coolant to rear heater), came out almost clear!!! Denso fit perfect, and came w/ rails attached and ready to install! I used a very small amount of veg oil to help seat the hoses all the way on. Was running at 207f, now can't get past 185f, but have yet to drive a distance. Truly a labor of love, as all projects are on our 4Runners!

1.25 ebay spacers on (great quality and fitment btw)
2016 Trail Wheels with 33" Nitto Trail Grapplers Load C on..no mods needed with my lift thank god but only had about 1/4" clearance on rear of the front wheel well...driving wise not so bad it is noticably slower as expected but its not terrible!road noise isnt so bad either...
plasti dipped the wheels black...I kinda like it either way what u guys think?

I used a local shop they were amazed at the prints they said every thing came together with ease they will be doing the back bumper with swing out in two weeks for me
