Drove it. A lot. Put over 3,000 miles on it these past couple weeks and had a blast doing it!
Now playing forum catch-up and trying to get the 4Runner highway hum out of my ears. Saw some really awesome 4Runners while I was out and about, will have to get around to posting in the Spotted thread for the couple of pics I got, including one with a home-grown custom long-travel front end. Always like to see the cool stuff people come up with!

Drove it in humid and rainy South Carolina all weekend. Actually looked at a low mileage Acura TL as a daily driver (inspired by @RockRat) but decided to pass on it due to a salvaged title. Finally got the AC working so well that the windows fogged up after the rain.

Spent about $1100 on it this weekend. Should be good to go for a while. Keep looking, you'll find one.

Past couple weeks I done some chemo on the few cancer spots on the body, installed a Curt roof basket with extension, painted rear emblems the same color as the body, and yesterday I went wheeling with some Heep friends. Picture was in a washout and made it through with minimal spin.

I bought a set of level 8 & BF Goodrick TA KO2 LT275/70R17, for my 2001 I had a rubbing issue at right tire it would hit the plastic shield & the pinch weld so I cut off a portion of the shield then hammered down the pinch weld took care of the issue. But after I had the truck aligned the front of the tires would rub against the fender extension / flare on the leading edge, so I just removed the flares attached to the front bumper. I do have an OME lift kit front & rear so I have more clearance
Well tried getting my Level 8 MK6 +0 offset wheels with 265/75/16 Falken Wild Peaks installed on my stock 01 Sport but they wouldn't fit... Rubbing up front.
Anyone else have a similar issue and have a solution (other than new tires)?

Thanks! I ended up trimming the running boards from the bottom but not sure if it's going to help. I'll find out later this week when I go back.

radiator split near the cap as well as a pinhole leak in a heater hose...so, new radiator, upper and lower hoses and firewall hoses! Glad it was only 95 degress out today!! haha

'99 SR5, 212k mi, $4,300. I think I got a pretty good deal, but time will tell I guess.
A trusted mechanic gave the body and most of the engine a good thumbs up, but the rear brakes are shot and there is no record of if the timing belt and water pump have been done recently. Alternator belt needs to be replaced also, as do wires and possibly O2 sensors. Plugs should be done too, since they seem to be original.
Like I said, I think I walked with a pretty decent deal. Even with the work that needs done, it's still considerably less $ in total than other vehicles I was considering. And especially with what I've read on here and other places, if most of the frame/body/engine are in good shape, I'll at least get a good few thousand miles out of it, right?

Relentless fab bumper DIY came in its all done and will be doing a write up some time later to help clear up some stuff but all in all a great product.

returned the wifi scanner
I purchased Dash Command it didn't work gave me all kinds of goofy data, like rpm swinging from 500 to 5500 at idle & vehicle speed was 65-90 mph parked, no coolant temp or any other data. So I tried the free app ODB Auto Doctor that at least gave me coolant, rpm air intake temp & it showed no emission codes stored, but the ODB wifi reader keep kicking out of the wifi network had to constantly connect, it also kicked me out of wifi when i toggled from 1 screen to another. I think i got a used reader that was returned because when i opened the box he tape that should be on the pin compactors was balled up & shoved in the pins. I ended up sending it back to amazon for a refund. I then bought a LELink blue tooth reader & purchased the EngineLink app. So i got it this afternoon the blue tooth worked & easily connected to my iPad air with the app open prior to connecting the adapter. Now the issue is it get no data & when I try to read any stored codes I get "Error busy try again later". it maddening, so I tried this reader on my wife's 2006 avalon and it worked like champ it immediately connected via blue tooth and it gave me speed, engine rpm, tongue, fuel level, power coolant temp, I was also able to see what PIDs were available so I was able to customize a few pages. So I now know the app & blue tooth scanner works wonder if my OBD port works. The wierd thing is I see the red light when the adapter is connected & once it links to blue tooth the green flashing is present. So there power to the port, I checked the 7.5 amp fuse in the engine bay its ok so I'm left scratching my head.

Not sure what you would do to fix the diagnostic port. Have you taken it to the dealer for a check engine light recently? I would think it wouldn't work for them either and they'd let you know it was faulty.
