kitesurfing transportation

First post for me...I went kitesurfing Labor Day weekend in the Sea of Cortez, Mexico. I keep my 2001 Limited there to come back from 10-20 mile downwinders on the beach. By coming back upwind with the truck I get to enjoy playing with the waves without the work of kiting upwind! The images attached are the transportation I had prior to having the truck I will get some pics of the truck next visit...

Mine never came from the factory with the rear wind deflector/spoiler thing and that really bummed me out since I think they add a nice look to the back, as well as being pretty functional. So I went out and picked one up from a junk yard. Instead of drilling holes and putting threaded inserts in and all that, I just stuck it on there with some really high strength double sided tape used for putting on little ricer spoilers and stuff like that. It fits perfectly and after a couple weeks of highway driving it's still as stuck as can be. It's really going to be a pain to have to get off if in the future I ever need to.......

pulling tree stumps out of the ground

Big mesquite stumps out in the desert in Sonora, Mexico. I used the 4runner to pull the stump out of the ground to use the root for usable wood, then slice the wood with an Alaskan mill

I love working with mesquite! It's very hard and beautiful wood. The only problem is it dulls your tools so fast.

The right tools will let you shape/cut the stuff like butter, even ironwood which is much tougher, carbide tools are great

I know. But would you rather take something without the hassle or deal with a thick chain. I know it ain't theft proof. But it will steer people away. And that's all I care about. Your gonna need some good cutters to get through that chain. But I agree with you.

Shit I thought the same thing he did. Thought that post was talking about some high-tech burglar tool mumbo-jumbo or something and the "ironwood" was just an overlooked auto-correct for 'iron' or something.

Fitment was pretty dang good. It fit perfectly on my factory tray but is just BARELY "deep" enough to utilize the factory mount. The height is also just BARELY acceptable. The 10mm nut is not biting on as many threads as I'd like, but I highly doubt it'll go anywhere. Regardless, I plan to look into perhaps getting a better fitting mounting solution.

I replaced the power steering rack with the AAE 3273 one from RockAuto as well as the send and return lines. Besides the rag joint being a bear to take off of the rack and pinion, it went pretty smoothly! I replaced its bushings with my polyurethane bushings from the original rack. So far it is working out great!

My battery also decided to die on me this past weekend, so I went and got a 24f Interstate Megatron Plus. It fires right up and has been doing pretty great as well!

Did that recently....what's it like under the roof rails? I removed mine. Still dealing with the lines on the roof they left behind. Out of sight out of mind.

I should edit to clarify I'm asking about the 3 cross rails on the roof. Not the front/back rails.
