picked up a set of 5 stars at a screaming deal to mount some studded snows on
even though I have KO2's I live and work on some steep hills that get tons of ice and snow and last winter only studded or chains got out, regardless of the rig, and I think I'm in for a worse winter
now Ill have a set of snow's that will work with my upcoming TBU

CV boots all the way around. I ****ing rookied it and flattened the threads on the passenger side when I tried to bang it out. A very delicate cut with a sawzall saved the day and the half shaft. I should know better but it's never happened to me before. Next time I'll find the punch.

Finished installing my new Alpine INE-W960 today. GPS works pretty solid. Also added a Sirus XM tuner as well.
Nice. Backup camera?
No. I watched a video of how to install it and it looked like more work then it was worth for a back up camera.

Well, after 4 nights of camping and copious amounts of service roads and 4-lo, it sounds like there are marbles in the bell housing of my 5-speed in idle and each gear but 4th. 247k on this one, so I guess it was bound to happen at some point.
Still shifts normally, but it'll be sitting in the driveway until I can figure something out.
Anyone have any luck installing a used transmission? There's a good junkyard down in Denver that has r150f's in stock, but I'm not sure if I should spring for a rebuilt one (or try rebuilding this one) or just take my chances.

Picked it up on sale at a local audio shop. Labor day special for $560 with my military discount. Yes they are $699. They were $599 for the special and with my military discount brought it down to $560.

It was a hassle for me because I don't really enjoy doing these types of things. I much rather wrench on mechanical moving parts haha.
Just tear the old pieces off and cut the new ones to shape. Use 3M spray adhesive to glue them on. Since the new pieces are trimmed just like the old ones, wrapping them was easy...
It took me a whole day to complete all 4 doors. It's a very doable DIY project. Total cost was $30, can't go wrong!

After 239,xxx miles I figured the fuel filter might like to be retired. SO I retired it and installed a new OEM filter. About 20 minutes of work and no stripped nuts or leaks.
Then I took the rig up to a local lake at 10,000 feet. It used to have trouble pulling a 2 mile long 8% grade at about 8000 feet. I'd have to drop it into 2nd and putz up that hill at 50 mph. With the new filter it was able to hold 60 mph with the OD off. Also a noticeable difference in response time off the throttle. So far the best performance to cost ratio I've had with this vehicle.

Found the source of the grinding sound coming from my front wheel. Turned out to be rusted shield rubbing on the rotor. Also scraped rust/hit my tow hitch with rustoleum, looks a bit better now. Moving on to the rest of the undercarriage soon. Also thinking about pulling the running boards and plastic dipping my emblems, chrome trim on the hatch, grille, and bumpers. Truck is black and I hate the chrome.

Still prepping for the engine swap, installed airaid intake, wired up the control box for the electric fans, stopped working when the lighting started rolling in.
Side question, a co-worker stopped by with his triumph that is overheating. It was puking something gray out of the cap. He's only had it 4 months, could the gray stuff be something that a previous owner put in it to fix a problem?
