What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Went and bought some plexiglass today to make a fairing for the new rack. Before at 30mph the rack made the loudest obnoxious sound. Now I can barely tell its up there. The kickup on the front is almost as tall as the spare so hopefully my fuel economy doesnt drop too bad. Driving to Maryland monday so I'll report back with fuel info...

In Colorado Springs for a course that ended early today. Drove to Garden of the Gods and saw an inviting dirt road. It went up and over the mountain with some beautiful views. I was told by a bicyclist at the top there was a dirt road that went up Pikes Peak but by the time I made it there the road was closed for the day. Sadly, I leave in the morning, heading to Witchita Falls for an air show, so I won't get to explore that trail. Beautiful country for sure, wish I had more time. Good thing is, the wife doesn't know that I've decided to move here in the future after my commitment is up with the USAF...now to decide when and how to tell her:dancin:

Tied the ECUMAP3 into the plug and play harness. Door panel back on, rear heat delete and started getting ready for putting the front of the engine back on.

Bought parts: Plugs, wires, IAC valve, air filter.
Once they come in the. I will change them out and clean the MAF/TB.
After that she needs all fluids changed and a fuel filter.

Hopefully this all will help it run better. It's been running like crap lately.

Replaced wiper blades and installed silverstar bulbs. Excited to drive it tonight

fuel filter can make a big difference, esp if its been a while or you have had some crappy/dirty fuel

I switch mine out about every 2 years, prob overkill, but they are not expensive,
when I bought mine with 145k it had the original, for a few days....
did a full tune up, cleaned the maf and throttle body, changed all the filters, different car after that
and Ive read many times on this forum of people having running issues, even for a year , and finally switching the fuel filter and ...tada...magic

I changed out the head light bulbs for PIAA Hyper White ones. It's still daytime, so I'm waiting to see how they look.

Also got reverse, dome/cargo/map LEDS from SUPERBRIGHTLEDS.

Unfortunately after reading here a little bit and even using the vehicle selector tool on their website, the front two map lights on my 4runner were NOT the same.

Kinda bummed, but at least 2/3 of my interior has crisp white light now! [emoji38]

Rear gears and air locker ready to go back in and start the breaking process.
Soon to follow is the front when time permits.
Very excited to have some pedal power in this armored rig, 4.10 to 5.29s and twin ARBs. This winter will be exciting!

Decided to sell... 1996 4WD SR5 with issues, Atlanta area

After a long discussion with son (who knows far more about mechanics than I do - runs a depot bay for an engineering battalion USARMY), he convinced me that my desire to rebuild the truck was more sentimental than practical.

So, since I still cannot post a new thread on this forum, if you are looking for a project vehicle in the Atlanta area, make me an offer. What I know:

• 
  ~280K

• 
  kid installed larger springs, never aligned, front tires are gone.

• 
  at least one blown head gasket (drained oil, 70/30 water/oil came out).

• 
  4WD and transmission were known to be good, but truck has not been run in two years.

• 
  Frame is SOLID - no rust at all. Truck was a daily commuter for original owner, we are 2nd owners.

• 
  front leather seats in rough shape (as you would expect).

It will be gone by the end of the month - sold or donated, I don't care.

If someone wants to help me out and post in the for sale area, I can provide pictures. Or PM me and I'll email them to you.

too much time here, referring to the gas station ? compared to what....a prius...a corolla ?

with what I do in my truck, the roads I go to the mountain views I hit, the roads that few dare to go....... listening to people that are driving jeep's or ford exploders or cheby blazers. ( of the same year periods and v-6)....im not spending anyplace near the time they are at the pump......nor am I spending as much keeping my truck running
