Finishing touches on my Stubbs HD-SKO sliders. It was a bit of a PITA due to it raining over the last few days. That, and I had a couple wheel studs replaced. Discount Tire cross threaded a couple lugstands. One snapped off, the other was damaged, shortened, then cleaned up a little. The job didn't look all that difficult, but it was more about holden them accountable for the issue.

I can't wait to get the sliders welded on. Which leads me to a question.

For those of you who rattle canned your armor, how often do you touch it up? Is it difficult to get them cleaned up and painted after they are welded to the frame. I imagine that it is fairly straightforward. Clean, sand, primer, paint. But I see a few folks that have em tucked up really close. I imagine that using them as a step wears em down a bit faster too.

I have the same sliders and used Krylon satin black paint. I've had mine installed since February or March. I have enough paint missing from using them as a step that it's time to touch it up in that one spot on the driver's side. I need to think about putting a small strip of grip tape on that spot to avoid painting often. I bet that would do wonders, but would be a PITA to remove when it's time to paint. Mine are the 7.5 degree angle (he sells them 7.5 and 15 degree IIRC), so repaint shouldn't be too bad when I need to since they're not too tight to the body. All I'm planning on doing is taking a scotch brite pad and scuffing the area and spraying it again with a couple coats of primer & paint.

I'm running 285/75/16 treadwrights. And the gauge cluster had been replaced showing 148,000 but the guy I bought from told me it had 280k I've put 10 k miles on it, but I ran the car fax and added it all up and it's about 250k witch is good since I just saw that he had the timing belt replaced at 190k

I just realized I'm complaining about having less miles, but I already told people I was close to 300k lol

Bedlined my roof. Got tired of beating up the roof under the rack and having to mask off to the body to touch up the rack.

Dropped it off at the body shop down the road...rear diff is leaking behind the brake line bracket. I got it cleaned up with a wire brush wheel on a grinder for my buddy to weld up, but it got cold so we didn't want to be poking out of the garage. So the shop is going to patch her up for me and fix the front end rattle (sway bar link I think, but couldn't get it tightened).

Right on. I have the 7.5 degree set up. I figure that if I use them as a step regularly they will wear fairly quickly. I feel the same way about grip tape. I am not sure that it would be worth it, but who knows... Painting doesn't take all that long, I just don't see many people talk about armor upkeep and everyday use all that much.

Put some new Anti-Freeze in it and ran it for a while. Tested the gas in the cooling system. Supposed to stay blue.

After test at idle and 3000rpm. Tested for 90 seconds. Looks good don't you think?

Temp was here after idling for about 40 minutes. This was normal before the radiator blew up.

So was the head gasket never blown....or did the snake oil (Blue Devil Head Gasket Sealer) solve it?

I would belive your blue devil had something to do on all of this. It happend to me and the devil cure my problem. It works!

Yea, they are pricy, but anything Piaa does is made in Japan and is very good quality and they wouldn't release these until they got it right, as I was told.

If anyones wants to try these, I'll work a deal to try and help you out. Prob $70 less than you see on Piaa's link above... These should eliminate the need and problems with HID's.

Was torn between satin, flat and gloss... in the end, I had gloss in my garage so it won out, and I think it looks pretty good actually!

Replaced my cracked radiator. When I went to start it up, the starter continued to run, guess it's time to replace my starter contacts. Also the P/O had some plastic protection over the headlights and corner lights, peeled that off and no more fogged/hazy lights!

Had a box of suspension parts show up today! Included were upper and lower ball joints, and inner and outer tie rods, all with the necessary hexagon nuts and flange bolts (and all OEM of course). I also went ahead and ordered some new plug wires (NGK TE66) and spark plugs (NGK BKR5EKB-11). With all that and a new battery from the Northstar group buy arriving in the next week or two, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas for the old girl :thumb3:
