What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Mind me asking what you use to detail that and how you go about doing it without harming any critical components? Mine needs done bad! I'm used to a dirty/muddy engine bay (jeeps) but I want to keep this one nice.

I plastic bag the intake and coils. $1 store wheel cleaner. Pressure wash. Spray the black components lightly with $1 tire shine.

Was going to install the new Superwinch today but after unboxing I discovered that the control box was cracked in 2 places. The shipping box wasn't beat up (came from Amazon, I earn 5% on all purchases) so boxed it back up to send back. Replacement will be here Wed.

Recalled someone talking about how loose their valve cover bolts were (hand tight) so i reached down and found I could turn them with my fingers!!! I tightened them up so maybe that will stop the seepage on the back corner.

I need to be better about covering up electrical components when I wash/spray my engine. I've been lucky so far & try to be careful and avoid electrical parts but I know it just takes one time to mess something up.

What did I do to my 3rd gen today? Sold it....(to a buddy) and got this. T4R #3. #1 1987-2001, #2 2001-2017, #3, 2017...to infinity....and beyond. Another chapter begins.

I need to be better about covering up electrical components when I wash/spray my engine. I've been lucky so far & try to be careful and avoid electrical parts but I know it just takes one time to mess something up.

Yeah. If I skip covering coils I've gotten a misfire on few different vehicles. I killed a CAS on my talon before. Fixed it by baking it in oven at 250*.

Swapped both grab handle bolts with RAM ball mounts so I could move both my phone and backup GPS. Ran some wiring over to charge them. Built antenna mounts to bolt to my Savage swing out. Mounted ham radio. Installed URD short shifter kit. New plugs and wires.

Like JayRolla, I also detailed my engine today. There is so much more crud to still get off, but the visible spots look OK now. This stems from a TB/WP install because I got no records of it having been done, and with 280k, it's piece of mind. Still a couple things to button up, but tomorrow I may hear this truck run on 6 cylinders for the very first time!

That might have been me. My bolts were loose, and it only took about 2 weeks for me to get them tight! (because I removed them, powder coated them, and reinstalled them with new gaskets and stuff.)

Looks great. Pics deserved a quote. Only thing I would do is swap those blue ngk for some black OEM densos.

I'm about to hit 280k miles also. In think I'm on original timing belt. Hopefully she can make it till summer.

I replaced the tailgate gas struts on my KZN185 with a pair of the Strongarm added lift force ones. Opens dead easily now! :thumb:

Added all black TRD decals, both sides. Very smooth installation and I'm happy with the results.
