What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Drove my butt to work. Not a lot of snow compared to a lot of you folks, but our first real snow locally. I am not really worried about getting around, but I don't trust the mix of ultra timid and the ultra reckless. Driving back home from the Super Bowl, there was a mix of 55+ MPH. Vehicles peppered in with 20 MPH. Vehicles in close proximity. :clap2:

I replaced the tailgate gas struts on my KZN185 with a pair of the Strongarm added lift force ones. Opens dead easily now! :thumb:

I ordered some of those today. I banged my head pretty hard on the liftgate yesterday. :bash:

Also ordered a transmission cooler, inline filter, and some adapters for the radio antenna to work with the new head unit.

Oh, and a fuel filter....

Still waiting for suspension parts. Finished welding up a receiver winch mount. The WARN is an absolute cheaply made but expensive POS at under 18lbs/10k rating. $50/3hrs and I made my own 30lbs and compared to the WARN....must be +50K rating. Just set winch on it as I still need to paint it.

Unfortunately, nothing. Saturday my sister came down from Chicago so I could replace the brakes on her M35, then dinner with the fam. Sunday I replaced the blower motor in my aunt's Town and Country, then tuned into the game. Fell asleep when ATL was up 28-9... woke up to confetti falling on the Pats (WTF happened?! Atlanta dominated the first three quarters). Productive weekend overall, but ready to start working on my new ride!

Kinda looks like mine except I have 2 10mm spacers

I just did this over the weekend as well. I was trying to put some lumber in the back of the runner last week and the cold WI weather in addition to 15 year old struts made the whole ordeal challenging. No longer a problem. $43 shipped via Amazon

Wiring Harness for Lights and Paranoid Fabrications Bracket

My original plan was to complete the other half of my wiring harness for my Paranoid Fab switch bracket and tidy up some wiring under the steering column area.

Ended up completing the harness and relocating my VIP security indication sensor. This actually freed up a space where I (for now) plan on installing a Warn winch remote connector. Still thinking through this one.

EDIT: Just added the harness to my build.

You can see the VIP security sensor/light relocated close to the steering column. With so little real estate to work with inside our cockpit, this is an ideal location for the static light. Plenty of room and tucked out of the way.

"Finished" The Rear Deck

When we first got our 97 I had built a rear deck from two pallets. This gave our dogs more space, but the space underneath was stupid dark.

I found a guy on Craigslist giving away under car LEDs which I disasembled and resoldered so that I can mount one strip underneath the deck. It has a quick disconnect so if I have to take the rear deck out I don't have to worry about all the wiring.

All this on a budget of $0.00 (minus gas to get the lights).

What did you do to your 3rd gen today?

Replaced my lower BJs with oem.
A rust free vehicle was so easy to work on. Both were oem but the drivers had been replaced. Someone way over-tightened the ballpoint castle nut and blew the boot.
When I put the drivers side back in, there was a small rock in the threads in the spindle. When I tightened it BJ up, it didn't seat fully. The pebble smashed a corner of the alignment dowel. I cut a slit with a cutting wheel then bent and filed back into shape. Everything went together as normal.
Couple things though. These old Oem LBJs were very tight and the vehicle only has 140,000 miles.
I had an odd steering sensation where the steering would hit a hard spot and not want to return or would randomly veer off course. This seems to have fixed the majority of the pulling issues.
If you have steering issues above I would suggest replacing your LBJs.
Also does anyone want 4 new oem lower ball joint mounting bolts? I'll send to a person needing them
